ford racing shortys

hi everybody
I performed the 5.4 swap on my crown vic and now i'm abouth to up-grade the exhaust system.
curent set is
5.4,hps intake,comp cams 262ah.electric waterpump,accufap plenum and 70mm tb
car is pushing 240hp and 307 lb/tq at the wheel and did pushed my 2 ton crown vic in 14,5@95

I'm going with the ford shortys header 2 high flow cats x pipe all stainles 2 1/4
I know the shortys are not performance oriented since they do not really tune the exhaust system for more power as the long tube would do but as far i i know the shortys is the ony headers that will fit my car as is.

Question is: does the ceramic coated shortys are a big plus vs the regular one?
the ceramic ones are twice expensive as the regular one...

thanks for your advice guys:)

As you stated above, the shortys are pretty much worthless, then why put an expensive coating on something thats useless. Just my 1/50 of a dollar.

shortys < LT's

were on earth did you get that price from

if someone gave me that price to make LT's, i would have gave them the finger

that's how much they cost... minimum.

Just use the stock logs. The flow difference between those and the FRPPS is not enough to say grace over and they're eventually going to break and leak and cause you serious expense. Just use the logs. Voice of experience signing off.

I'm sorry, what I said was a little harsh. Just seems like a lot of money and time for very little gain. I should have said that coated headers do reduce underhood temps but how muh is not certain. The coatings look good and help with rust. If I very buy another set I will buy them plain and send them to Jet Hot for the coating. You would be surprized how well the stock ones flow.

Custom headers are very labor intensive plus materials. I have never had a set made but that price does'nt seam that far outta the park. You'll paid 800 - 1200 for a set for a GT depending on material and quailty.

I have had them custom made... cost me about 5 grand after all was said and done between fabrication, install, re-tune, new mid pipe, new cat back, new hangars. Just use the logs.

I got a quote from stainless works
They started making longtube headers for the 92/02 and 03/11 crown vic/grand marquis.
they usualy runs for 900$ but since mine has to be custom made thay say it would cost 2400$
It might be less if they modify the ones made for the crown vic but i really doubt so

No problem man
I might stay with the stock log afterall considering the work/expenses related to the swap.
I got the same answer from everybody regarding this (it's a waiste of money) wich i agree lol
