Got Into An Accident!

Hey, normally when i go around turns i like to give extra gas and do a small oversteer just for fun. see now i just bought the sct xcalibrator and installed it. on my way to the gym i tried doing the oversteer on the same turn i always do it on and as soon as i gave it extra gas the car spun wildely out of control and i skidded ALL over the road(thank god no one else was driving on that road or i would have been hit) and Smacked up against the curb perfectly perpendicular with the car. absolutely zero body damage but my two right wheels and tires were cracked. i just bought two new tires and two new wheels(from mustangtuning) and installed them. Looks very good however ever since the accident my right rear brake has been screeching extremely loudly even when i dont touch my foot or emergency brake. its a constant screech. I suggested to my dad if i bought new rear brakes but he said something might be bent and thats why its screeching. Can anyone lend out any ideas as to what the damage is? Thanks alot guys

Have you looked at the dust shield! Mines got bent the other day while swapping tires and man, those things screech real loud! Took me about 10 sec to straighten it out and I was as good as new! :p

Its only on the front wheels i think! its just a think piece of aluminum behind your brake caliper.. :)

oh no the noise is only coming from the right rear. do you think i bent my axle? i hope to god not but do you think its a possibility?

cobra4123 08-05-2005 11:32 AM

yea i'd check it out

TonyStangs 08-05-2005 11:37 AM

how would i go about fixing a bent axle? like, what kind of work needs to be done? if its all just labor and no extra needed parts then i can do it myself at my dad's shop but do i need to replace anything and if so how much do they usually cost?

i think you would get some wicked vibrations if your axle was bent. but if it is then they are going to pull of your pumpkin cover and pull some some clips out and i guess your axle will just slide out. before you do all that you will have to take everything off that axle i.e. brakes and abs sensors. im no mechanic so i could be leaving some stuff out.

A friend of mine ha a bent axel on his camaro and it makes a squeaky sound

Oh no Springstangitis, you guys are not pros stop drifting.

yo man sounds like a simple bent rotor. take off your wheel and check it out. its deff. not your axel cuz you would know it. it would bouce and hop. also check all the spots stuff meet. all joints, nuts, bolts. i just blew my front ball joint drifting and let me tell you it sounds like a 30 yr old truck now the way it squeaks.
Jack your back end up, take of your tire, put car in nuetral(be careful that the car doesnt roll of jack stands), and spin your rotor with your hands. you should be able to tell if its bent or not sitting right by that.

arite ima bring it by the shop tomorrow morning and put it on the lift to check this out. Even if its not the rotor thats causing the problem it looks like all the screeching really did a number on the brake pad and rotor anyway so them bad boys may need to be replaced regardless i believe(not positive but i think....please PLEASE correct me if im wrong). ill let you know what happened when i return from the shop, thanks again guys

TonyStangs 08-06-2005 04:39 AM

car is on the lift as we speak, so far i know the strut it bent pretty good but it looks like theres other things too. ill list them when i can figure them out

TonyStangs 08-06-2005 12:56 PM

ok, so im pretty sure its just the bent strut so i ordered a new one from a local dealer and should be installing it on monday morning. I also needed to order a new pair of rear brakes because the right rear side wasnt aligned after the accident so it really chewed away at the rotor and pad surface

Stevoneo 08-06-2005 01:43 PM

struts are easy, and be sure to check out your rear caliper

TonyStangs 08-08-2005 12:32 PM

bad news, went to do an alignment after the strut installation and seems to have more problems. rear axle is bent. so all and all here is a list of shyt and the money ive spent on a simple oversteer:

2 18x10 chrome saleen's = $420
2 315/35/18 used nitto's = $450
2 Heavy Duty Brake Pads = $20 w/ Dealer Discount
1 Right Rear Tokico Strut = $100 w/ Dealer Discount
1 Rear Axle = Not Positive but definetely a couple hundred
Not beeing able to drive my baby for 2.5 weeks = priceless.....
