Default couple of gear questions?

okay i want to do gears next for my gt...it is automatic so keep that in mind

1) 3.73's or 4.10's????

2) When i buy them, do i also need the bearing kit AND the installation kit?

3) Do i need to do any other mods or would just installing the gears be good enough??

thanks for the help guys...id appreciate any other input on gears or any kind of advice...

Well I would say 4:10's,the kit depends on how many miles you have on your car but it would'nt hurt and you will need either a speedcal or a tuner to set your speedometer correctly.

yeah i was gonna say if the installation kit includes everything why is it $50 cheaper...but okay so all i will need is the bearing kit for $90. Thanks for the input. Thanks for the compliment too, i actually bought the car about a month and a half ago with 34,600 miles and i'm around 35,000 right now. Thats the main reason i bought the car, it should last me a good while...

haha i'm in the same boat...i have another quick questions about the gears...instead of spending the money to get a tuner...you think i should do all my other mods...then at the very end get my gears installed, a superchip, then dynotune? this should take care of everything right, doing the job of the speedcal for the gears?

That depends. You could still get a tuner now and then after you do your other mods just get another tune. You can download new tunes right to the tuner or take it to get dyno tuned and they can do all the changes and make sure everything is right.

with only 35k no need for the bearing kit, the install kit you need will have just the pinion bearing, crush sleeve, shims ect. no need for new carrier bearings, switch them out when you decide to upgrade to 31-spline diff and axles.

get the 4.10's

no need for a tune or tuner, a speed calibrator will correct your speedo (dallasmustang.com) you really don't have enough mods to warrant a tune right now, kind of a waste of money.

okay guys so let me sum it up and you let me know if this sounds good...okay remember i have a 1997 mustang gt...

in order to do the whole gear setup and install this is what i will need to buy

1) 4.10 FRPP ring and pinion gears

2) Bearing kit (just to be safe)

3) And this speedcal (should work for my stang right?)
