If the check engine light is on then you need to reset the ecu to clear the codes. To do this just unhook the negative battery cable and turn on your headlights. This will drain out any power left in the system and reset the ecu. After about 5 mins or so hook the battery back up and turn off the headlights and your good to go. The car might act a little weird as it relearns in idle pattern and other things. This will go away after 4-5 run cycles.

well i htink the check engin light bulb is burn out or something . when i first turn my key to on all the dash warning lights come on for a second but the check engin one never comes on ... i have had a off road h pipe for about 3 years and never did anything with rear o2 sensors until now . so i dont know if the light is on or not . its been awhile since i have had it on a scanner ....so do you think i should just do it .... it wont hurt anything will it ?

Resetting the ecu won't hurt anything. And if the all the lights don't come on when you cycle the key then its burnt out.
