Default T/B and plenum= Lower ETs?

My friend has an 02 GT hardtop with the same mods as me but he has a 75mm throttle body and trick flow plenum. We raced from a 50mph roll and I barely pulled on him every time. I was not impressed at all by his T/B and plenum combo.

Has anyone actually dropped their E.T. with a similar combo? I was about to put an Accufab throttle body and plenum on mine but now i dont feel its worth 450 bucks.

My mods are: 75 wet shot of Zex nitrous (but I didnt spray it on him), MAC cold air intake (he has UPR), Steeda underdrive pulleys, Stock TB and plenum, Autolite 103 plugs (he has stock plugs), UPR Offroad X-pipe (he has bassani), Flowmaster cat back, Pro 5.0 shifter, Nitto drag radials, 255lph fuel pump (he has stock pump), and removed the spare in the back.

The combo only nets 10 hp. That might translate to .1 or .2 drop in ET. In a street race from a roll, the difference would not ever be noticeable.

Yea, I only noticed a little from 3k up. Thats about it other than better throttle responce. Dont buy it unless you get an AWESOME deal on it.

As Blake mentioned, every 10hp you add is good for about a tenth off your E.T.

Cams, gears, and heads are about the only mods that you will actually "feel" besides a bottle or a huffer. Other than that, your wallet gets smaller.

Don't get me wrong...when yu put them all together you will most likely feel a difference. If you were to add a chip, CAI, TB, Plenum and UDP's all at the same time and then drive it. You should immediately notice a difference. But, to do these mods one at a time, it is quite hard to tell.

I read from a mustang magazine that adding a tb/plenum combo BY ITSELF will actually decrease hp by a few and that it actually gains the 10 hp w/ other mods, ie intake, headers, exhaust. so that very well could be the reason that you are even a little faster.

The magazine is "mustang enthusiast". my scanner is too loud,so I'll scan the article tomorrow. However, upon looking at it, it's mostly talking about 5.0's. but still, 4.6's should be similar. If you think about it, it's like increasing the size of your throat, but not your mouth. Without a bigger mouth, a bigger throat will do no good. And even then, without bigger lungs, the bigger mouth/throat combo wont do too much good. Make sense?

LOL, I dont think I noticed a loss with mine, so I think that magazine is just trying to sell more parts haha. Its like, dont just buy the throttle body and plenum, buy a cold air intake and some headers too, or your car wont run...haha.
