2v + boost + compression + nitrous... discuss

Short version: I have a 5.4 2v in my mustang. I was going to put some ported TFS modular heads on it but, plans changed.

I got a lightning blower setup for sick cheap but I'm trying to figure out what to expect in the way of boost from the stock pulley set on the combo I'm running. I have about a 10.5:1 static compression ratio, comp xe270ah-13 cams, lightly touched up heads with Ferrea valves. I know I can't go running 12lbs on that much compression without seeing some problems or running race gas. I need to try and make it live with 91octane gas. Upshot is I only really want about 5-7lbs of boost. The car doesn't get run over 6K rpm and has a 125hp wet kit on it.

So, pulley diameter suggestions, other interesting ways to deal with high compression and multiple power adders.

Let's try and keep the criticism of the choice to a minimum and focus on helping me identify any points I haven't thought of.

No its a great choice, and IF I remember right the stock boost levels are around the ones you described.
Let me do a little digging and ill see what I can come up with.

As for the CR thats a little on the high side but your 5.5 is built anyways is it not???

Or you can always just sell me the lightning set-up :)

So general boost on f-150 forums is anywhere form 7-9 psi dependent on weather and mods. You will prob be on the high end since your a little less constricted than stock

I am intrested in this myself, as I have a L blower too and running the same compression as Red. Only difference is I am not shooting Nitrous.

Stock boost is 7-9psi, but you can run a larger blower pulley and slow it down more for 5-6psi. Even so with that compression ratio and only 91 to live on is gonna suck. Your going to have to pull a lot of timing out to keep it from detonating.

You should be able to put a stock Harley edition pulley on the eaton and get around that boost level you are looking for. As they came with a smaller pulley then the L's. I want to say it was 5-6psi for those trucks stock.

harley trucks made 6psi in theory stock, L's were supposed to limit at around 8. I have a few buddies with L's and they've made 10-13psi stock which tells me I'll need to make a pulley change to a harley pulley. Anyone know the diameter of those? They're not easy to find info about due to name commonality with those shitty motorcycles. (juss playin about the shitty part)

I have a 76 down the street that carries 100 octane unleaded so I may slap a couple gallons of that in with each tank if needed but I'd like to be able to live on 91 so I can drive it to whitecastles for lunch this summer.

Pulling the HPS off on saturday and putting the L blower on shortly thereafter. Probably next weekend. Then the following weekend for a tune update.

Sweet :). Make sure to get us some damn pics :D

All I can find is that the HD runs about 2 psi less then the L but I can't find stock pulley sizes

it's ok... I think I can run a stock L pulley. The lightning community was pretty helpful this morning. A few of them are running high comp and modest boost with great effect.

Can't wait to make 600rwhp on boost + juice.

What do you think you will be running off the bottle and will it be streetable

Edit: I guess if you are running a 125 shot and are thinking 600ish then off the bottle should be around 475ish sound like shit tons of fun
