Thats for older cars not your 99-04 car. Use the directions I posted and you will be good to go. And you need a 2 prong switch only a 3 prong is not needed.

Pyrosis 05-19-2009 06:53 PM

i know but i have a 3 prong switch, so i wanna use it cuz its cool lookin and it lights up. so to use the switch i just need a lead from the accessory to the fan wire and a ground? i dont need to use the third running from another power source?

spike_africa 05-20-2009 09:41 AM

You would just not use the constant 12v prong.

joeboy013 05-20-2009 05:43 PM

what about 96 to 98 cars will ur directions work?

Pyrosis 05-20-2009 08:00 PM

ya they should, 94-04 has basically the same layout electrically, mechanically, etc.

spike_africa 05-20-2009 08:08 PM

Should work for all cars with 4.6 motor in 96-04 cars.

Pyrosis 05-22-2009 11:18 AM

hooked it all up and it was a flop. either im hooked up to the wrong wire, which i doubt or i need to run a 12v constant to power the switch.

Pyrosis 05-22-2009 11:49 AM

can someone please send me a picture of the wire i have to tie in to, theres two wires with green and violet ones dark green, one is light green and it doesnt help because im partially colorblind.

spike_africa 05-23-2009 07:09 AM

Same problem I had is that there are two wires that are very similar. If you hooked it up and it does not work, then you are tapped into the wrong wire.

joeboy013 05-23-2009 07:10 PM

Thanks for all the help. I finally got the time today to do it and it worked great.

Pyrosis 05-23-2009 09:07 PM

damn man its taking me forever to do this shit and it sucks cuz i never have time. joe ya gotta fill me in here man, did you take out the entire pcm and disconnect it to find the right wire? and does the wire have any specific numbering on it or am i just flying by color here?

spike_africa 05-24-2009 08:45 AM

You go by what color the wire is.

joeboy013 05-24-2009 12:00 PM

I think i just got lucky , i took the kick panel off then there was a metal brace holding 3 conectors i took that off also. There is a large group of wires taped together i cut the tape off then just looked for a green wire with a violet tracer. I never unplugged anything. Then i used a wire tap the hook into the wire. I grounded it to the the metal brace bolt. i used 18 gauge wire and a two prong switch. good luck i hope it helps.

joeboy013 05-24-2009 12:09 PM

i never saw any numbers .

Pyrosis 05-24-2009 09:41 PM

got it wired, it works, but i have a 3 prong switch. only thing that dont work is the light, so i think i need a constant power source cuz everything i tried fails to work the light and the fan at the same time. so any hints on what to run a lead to for constant power?

spike_africa 05-26-2009 11:50 AM

Any wire that has power when the key is in the switched position also known as a switched 12v source. Like the radio, etc...

cdjnight 06-17-2009 05:35 PM

In order to make a lighted 3 wire switch work you need to take 12volts to the negative on the switch and the ground to what would normally be positive on the switch and the the switched output will then be negative to activate the fan

Pyrosis 06-17-2009 09:52 PM

i got it all hooked up but i have an issue with the wires overheating as well as the fuses blowing as soon as i hook them up, is there any way to reduce the current flowing through it? i have a 16 gauge wire running from battery positive to the switch power, acc from switch to the 12 gauge fan wire, and the 16 gauge wire from ground on switch to a bolt close by. only wires overheating is the power and acc. i think it may be that i have to switch them all out for 12 gauge wires. this shits costin me a fortune, lol

spike_africa 06-18-2009 07:53 AM

Should of just gotten a 2 prong switch and some wire and you would of been done weeks ago :)

Pyrosis 06-18-2009 11:23 AM

lol i know but im a sucker for fancy switches with lights :)

cdjnight 06-20-2009 06:40 PM

if its running all the way to the battery you need bigger wire, but if you're picking up power under the dash somewhere the 16ga should be fine.
