Occasionally Dies
 

I got my car like almost a year ago and I was putting premium gas in it until i read in teh manual that it says not to because certain problems may occure..soo I been puttin regular in it...sometimes when I turn the key to start my car it acts like it doesnt want to, and sometimes it will start then just shut down...

Soo my question is... what could it be my car is a manual V8 GT so could it be that I am not puttin the clutch in far enough or something simple like that. or do you guys think it could be something else....

First off, don't use 93 unless you're tuned for it or you need it for nitrous, boost, etc. It won't hurt anything, but it won't help anything either. It's just a waste of money.

Now, does it start when you push your clutch in all the way or does it still not want to? Honestly, it could be any number of things. Spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, battery, etc. the only way to know for certain is to check them all out.

hard starts plus starting and dying right away is a symptom of a sticking or dirty IAC, idle air control valve.

Your clutch should always be to the floor every time you start the car and or shift gears. If its not you need to adjust your clutch. I'm with stanger00 it sounds like a dirty IAC valve.

Whens the last time the car got a tune up?

Don't IAC's usually stick open? I mean, most of them that I've seen go bad or get dirty usually keep the RPM's higher than normal.

the solenoid will get stuck wherever it wants...sometimes my car would idle high for a minute or 2 sometimes the POS wouldnt even start...it will start then just die right after it fired up. them fuggers are expensive so whenever my POS wouldnt start i would just give the IAC a love tap with a screw driver.

also another thing to check is loose connections around the MAF and throttle body an air leak after the MAF will cause this problem as well.

i usually put the 93 in my car cuz i like it running cleaner fuel, cost of fuel dont bother me any.

93 is no cleaner then 87 or 89. There is nothing special about 93 other then that fact that it controls detonation better then lower octane gas.

I havent gotten one done on it the only thing i have done to her is an oil change thats all and added the stereo but thats all.

and i always have the clutch on the floor..it only does it ever so often, not all the time.

when it acts up It sometimes starts and sometimes not when i have the clutch in.
