New Car

Hey Fellas (and ladies that may be out there)
So I wrecked my stang last sunday cruisin home through some BS snow in Indiana. Well tonight I picked up my new ride. I decided it was time to switch to a 5 speed and am gunna spend my spring break swapping all the mods over. I had a couple of questions...1st, Ive heard that short throws are the way to go. Any recomendations? 2nd, when Im rippin on her, what are the best shift points (I got toasted by my buddys GTO...I dont think I could ever beat it anyway but hitting the right shifts may help some hahaha). 3rd, I have to get a new diablo right??? Well I loved my little blue auto but I think I definitely happier with the black manual. Thanks for the imput.

Steeda and MGW make the best shifters for the money.

Shift points ain't gunna help shit against a GTO. Try a blower or nitrous.

You can have your Predator re-tuned for your new ECU code. It's usually 100 bucks and includes a custom tune. Check with Amazon Racing (www.amazonracing.com). I think they still do Diablo tunes. BTW.. SCT FTW.

Hurst FTW. Can't beat the original.

As for shift points, there are no such thing. You shift when the car tells you to. The only time when you need strict shift points is drag racing w/ a monster tach and shift light. But a rule of thumb is too shift around peak rpm and to make sure your rpms don't drop below the power range.

thanks for advice guys...how tough is the install on these???

Cake. Pop the plastic off around the shifter (pull up around the edges), disconnect the wire to the cigarette lighter, remove the 4 bolts holding the inner shifter boot, and then remove the shifter boot and the 4 bolts holder the shifter to the trans. Install is reverse of removal. Note you may wear some insulation off one of the wires so try to tape them up to prevent this.
