Possible TPS issue....

This started a couple days ago, but not bad. I drive a pretty stock 01 ford mustang GT with Air silencer removed, K&N air filter and exhaust. When I was driving the other day I was cruising along, when to stop, I pushed my clutch in and my idle went up to about 2k. Figured w/e probably nothing. So yesterday I was on my way home and I was coming down a hill. I was doing about 50, pushed my clutch in and it spiked to 4.5k RPM and stayed there. I put it in 2nd and disengaged the clutch to bring it back down. I have no clue what can be causing this except a possible TPS. I did some other research online and googled it but didnt really find anything. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated at this time.

Thank you!

Could be the TPS or the Idle air control valve. Considering its only acting weird when you get out of it I would lean towards the IAC. You can take it off and clean it and see if that helps out. Just clean it with carb cleaner or the like.
You can also take out a volt meter while you are in there and see what volts the TPS is putting out when the car is not running but with the key in the "on" position while not giving it gas.

Here is a pic of what it looks like.

leave the TPS alone, as they are pretty much bullitt-proof today and I've never sold one because it went bad...as stated above, it's prob the IAC
