Noticed a guy/company offering 2v head porting on eBay...

Anyone care to give me their thoughts? I seriously doubt I would see the gains he advertises, but the price is certainly nice..

Stay far away. Remember, if you don't know what you are doing, you will do much more harm than good when it comes to porting. So my advice is to go w/ someone reputable.

ship them to me, ill use my dremmel and port then for 100 bucks. garanuteed 100hp gain or ill ignore all complaints of my shabby work

:D

True. Experience is important. Price isn't always an indicator of shabby service though. Several of the guys on my Audi forum have had a certain individual port their heads with great results. And that guy only charges $300. I'll go along with you though. Who do you guys recommend?

Do a search and you'll find the good names like Steen, Fox Lake, and Total Engine Airflow. If you can find someone local, that's great but be advised, the professionals w/ the CNCs will yield more power than a Dremel so depending upon your needs, slight work w/ a Dremel may or may not be enough.

Or wait for the new trickflow heads to come out and get a set of those. But they will cost more then ported heads for sure. If I could get a flow sheet from that guy on ebay he might have a good set of heads who knows. Like you said price isn't everything, he could just be someone who is trying to get into the 2v ported head market and starting with low prices. He must have some numbers on them since he says the max flow numbers and they are cnc ported not ported by hand.

That's a good idea. I should ask this guy if he has some data sheets available.

GO BIG OR GO HOME

audikillsbmw 11-12-2008 12:29 PM

In my case, going big = going broke. I recently spent $2500 to get my Audi to pass the emissions test, and that constituted most of my available mod money. For now I'm going to concentrate on cheaper mods like cams. If a steady stream of "extra" money ever becomes available, I will either do a 5.4 swap, or a twin-turbo 4.6 setup.
