NPI cam for a PI motor
 

I have a chance to get a brand spanken new set of Comp 268H (102200) cheap. I have an 02 GT with a Cai, T/B and elbow, X-pipe and catback with a SCT tune. A few question.

1. Do I need valve springs? I have 88k on the car. Personally I think I will be okay for a few
months.
2. I do long trips once a month (1100 miles) hovering around 2200rpm al the way. will I loose
fuel mileage. In town I really don't car about mileage.
3. I don't think there is going to be valve clearence problems with these cams as they are
.050 less lift.

i just bought a set of the exact same cams. to answer your questions

yes you will need valvesprings, yes you will lose fuel mileage, and no you wont have valve clearance problems. how much did you pay for yours? i got mine for 350 shipped. and by the way you can get the valvesprings on ebay for 175 shipped. get the comp beehives. im hoping for 25rwhp from them.

If I buy them $300:smokin: Just not sure I could careless about around town mileage, I just don't want to kill my highway mileage.
It will only take me about 3 hrs to put them in sooo.....if they not good I can always thro the stock ones back in:godamnit:

It seems that Mod motors really respond well to additional duration more so than they do with the additional lift. I'd say go for it, the 268 is a decent enough street cam that will give you a little bit of idle rumble. You should really upgrade your valve springs only for the fact that you are shifting your power band up and will want to rev it a little higher to take advantage of that w/o floating your valves. Your mileage will be affected, but only slightly... probably llike 1MPG less than what you are used to.
