Default 5.4L 2v Longtube Header signup.

Here's the deal:

After an asston of effort trying to get Hooker super comps and a set of BBK longtubes to be adaptable to the 5.4 and still perform well, we've abandoned the idea of hacking up any other existing header and we've enlisted the help of a professional race car exhaust fabricator to come in (the guy builds race cars for a couple teams, BMW's mostly) and make us the baddest header we can have. He's down to do it and we've worked a deal. Here's the issue: the shop I'm working with has to have orders in hand for headers or they're never going to take it any further. This is because they have to pay up front for the whole first run. I have to pay for all the development work. Oddly I don't stand to make a fuggin dime so this is all for you hippies.

So, here's the $$ end. Headers are price targeted at 800 bucks. Yes that's expensive but they're being built by a top shelf guy and being engineered and not just built. Got to pay to play. If the price magically goes up then any deposits will be refunded so you can decide if the higher price is worth it to you (I worked that out with my shop just for you guys). If the project drops from lack of interest, deposits will be refunded. Deposits are expected to be in the 400-500 dollar range so we know you're committed. Once we have the paying customers lined up production will happen very quickly and you should expect rampant communication from me on the matter. You'll be directly in touch with the owner of the shop I'm working with as well.

The performance advantage and delivery time was enough of a justification for me to make the decision on going to the guru: I figure, either I can convince you guys to line up and buy the headers now that they're tacitly available or, I don't bother doing headers and I move straight on to my 4v conversion.

I can't stress enough the lengths we had to go to to get this guy to take the header job. He's a god in the field and he's expensive as hell. I'm already out $2K on this and I don't even own a usable set of headers yet. I'm planning to drop another 2-3K from my own pocket to finish making it happen but that's only if you guys actually want to spend the money to buy what we're trying to make.

So, I'm asking you to put a deposit on a part that will be above your expectations, fit with a stock k-member, perform better than any chopped up header and be made just for us.

It's make or break time. I'm already out 2k so I have to either cut my losses or increase them for a damned good reason.

PM me to sign up and I'll give you the contact info for the shop. SPREAD THE WORD PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... cross-post, link back all that ****.

Collin has asked for our assistance in getting the LT 5.4L header developed and produced for you guys. We are at the point where we are ready to make a prototype which will be very close to production. We have also lined up a couple of exhaust manufacturers to produce the headers.

The prototype unit will be made by a shop which builds actual race cars for the American Lemans series.

As Collin has said, we need to make sure there is demand for this product before we move forward. If anyone is interested in a set for $800 please contact me via PM or at Mikem@tpsmotorsports.com. We are taking deposits currently for the headers..

UPDATE:

The guys that are actually fabricating my headers are in fact willing to make more. They're going to be kinda expensive (at a price point as yet unknown) but they'll be a full race quality part. TPS Motorsports won't be retailing them in the near term as the demand wasn't sufficient to lay out the cash.

So, I've made them available. FWIW, I paid so far FIVE THOUSAND dollars for mine. Don't bitch at me if they're 2 grand a set. I tried my hardest.

R3D, I know you wouldn't have gone to all this trouble if you didn't need to. I just can't see why a set of LT's for a 4.6 couldn't be tweaked to fit a 5.4. Why exactly doesn't it fit??

they can be modded to fit with a lot of work... the question is do you want to cut the **** out of a set of bargain basement headers that weren't that great to start with, then spend 2800 bucks in labor to get them re-fabbed to fit the 5.4. It's not worth it IMO. The 4.6 longtube headers hit both frame rails and the steering shaft and the tranny and the bell housing and they rub BAD against the floorboard. There's just nowhere they fit well so it ends up a total re-fab.

At this point unless you're dying for the 20hp extra, I'd say just stick with FRPP shorties or JBA shorties or stock logs. The power difference can be made up with 25hp shot of nitrous, so add a 50 shot and call it a day with cheaper headers.

I got boned on my heads which basically made my headers pointless. If anyone wanted to give me the 4000 bucks for them I'd consider selling my pipes. eheheheheheheh

And yeah... I do regret wasting all that money. The only upside is maybe just maybe having all that cash invested will get the car in one of the mustang mags as a feature car someday.

They know. R3D already had his headers made before FTP started fabing them.
