looks like i am in need of 4 new tires these are my options what do you guys think? Im just a average driver no racing etc.. looking for good tires that are Z rated, and non seasonal..


Good Year - Stock tires dealer installed 815.00
Kumho Ecsta ASX - 579.00 installed
Kumho ECsta Supra 712 - 558.00 installed
502 Falcons - 636.00 installed

any recommendations?? or any other brands to look into..

The Kuhmos ASX is an all season tire, BTW. I am not sure what you mean by non-seasonal.

I have the 712's and hit the track on ocassion. Some bitch about these tires, but I think they just can't drive. I pull 2.0's every single time with them in the 60 foot. They are great in the rain too.

The Kumho MX is also a good option. They are a bit more $, but are considered an upgrade from the 712's.

Check out the Sumitomo HTRZII. They are cheap and not a bad tire.

The Yoko ES 100's are probably the best tire you can buy for the Mustang w/o getting into big bucks.

BTW, some of your prices seem high. I paid $520 installed for my Kuhmo 712's and I have 285/40/17 and 255/45/17 were are more $ than 245/45/17's. I bought them at TireRack and had them mounted, balanced, and installed for $40.

Goodyears suck for the money that they want. People who like them are speaking with their wallets (sorry Goodyear guys). In head to head comparisons, other brands perform quite well.

I use Kuhmos on my stang, Bridgestones on my Suburban, and whatever the company buys for my van (company car).

I would also say Kumhos are a good bang for the buck deal. I had a set on my old stang and they were good tires. It is about time for me to get some new tires also, so I might look at Kumhos just because I don't do any racing yet so I don't feel like spending a lot on tires.

i must say...they have ALOT better traction than the stock goodyears...i would defintely get them again

as to my last reply i dont use good years my freind has em on his WS6. i have 2 nittos on my 17" rims and i have a set of nittos 555's (285 35) on my 18" rims i got for 780 since i installed them myself. discounttiredirect rocks
tire rack wouldnt give me free shipping at the time. oh before you get discouraged over price my 17" 245 45 nittos were only 115 each i think the 275 40 are about 150 each at the most

If you dont see the track ever get the kuhmos and save money, if you go to the track to lik ei do use the kuhmos and a set of nitto drag radials, that the setup i use. it works great for a daily driver.

That is good advice from Spike. Only thing I would add is that I don't think the DR's will really help too much unless you are making some additional hp. If you let some air out of the Kumhos and with some practice you can get 1.8 second 60 foot times. That is about as good as you are gonna see with any DR on a stang w/o a power adder anyway.

The Kumhos are great for the street.

nittos are great for stock hp cars to. then you can luanch like i do at 4k rpms. and pull 1.8 60's and drop 3 tenths off your time. ps i really my drag radials

Continental ContiExtremeContact. These tires are incredible. $118 a piece, $532 installed. A couple of us here have them. Just check out the reviews on tirerack. These tires in ALL ways are better than the stock ones that came on my Cobra. They even stick pretty good at the track!

That is a great tire Bob. but it is an all-season tire. Ideal for a daily driver for someone who lives in your loaction who drives all year around and does not want a dedicated snow tire. Put that tire in the Poconos where we get 75 - 100 inches a snow a year and forget about it. You need Blizzaks up here or just leave the car in the garage (which is what I do).

Glad to hear these tires work welkl at the track. That is certainly good to know.

any rims you guys recommend for the stock tires?? tried of my alum bullitt ones.. figure mind as well do both tires and wheels
