Major help needed PLEASE!

Hey guys, so I have been having issues with the stang lately. About two months ago I switched back to my 87 tune from 91 due to the crazy prices. The car was running kinda shitty so I changed the plugs and the fuel filter. After a week no improvement at all. I tried SeaFoam to clean some stuff up. About two weeks later I was launching from a dig and the engine stuck at 3500 rpms and bucked and stumbled and $%%(#(#%(#!!!! Throws a P0190 fuel rail pressure sensor error. I ordered the part and just to check I tune it for 91+ and put in about a quarter tank of 91. She runs great for about three or four passes and then bucks again, throws the code. I get the sensor and switch out the old one. Go give it a try again and a few good passes, and then the P0190 AGAIN! Since the new sensor the car runs slightly better, but continues to throw the code. Where should I begin now? If it was the fuel pump or filter wouldn’t it throw a different code? This is driving me nuts guys, I really need some help track is opening up soon here and I want to get her going but she just isn’t running right at all. The shops around here are not very reputable and I don’t want to spend a bunch of $$$ for a shitty shop to give me the run around. Please help!!:confused:

I would say fuel pump. Had this happen to my brothrs S/C v6 afew months ago and I thought it was the sensor until it continued after I replaced the sensor. Has a new pump and is running like a champ.

Before you go and throw money at fuel system parts now that it has a new sensor, I would go rent a fuel pressure gauge from autozone, advanced etc... and test the fuel pressure on the fuel rail to see what you have. This will tell you if its even a fuel pressure related problem.

Now today I got a P0193 error, Engine Fuel Temperature Sensor circuit. WTF!

Picked up the pressure guage today. I put it on the schrader * valve and tested pressure at idle, 30psi consistant.

I dont know if this helps but, today I put some gas in, just below full. I messed around for awhile and had no problems at all. Once the guage read about 3/4 the surging/stumbling began. No SES but no acceleration. By having more gas in the tank would this lean more towards pump?

I'd go with a pump

As I said in the 2nd post.... Its your pump. The same exact codes were being thrown when we had the problem with my brothers car. Talked to a few mechanics and they agreed that the pump was the problem after replacing the FPS and getting codes again

Fuel pressure is what I have at idle aswell.

Soooooo the saga continues. Yesterday I took the car to a family friend who has his own shop for the fuel pump installation. Everything was good except my filler neck was phucked all rotted out. So another $160 bucks put my grand total to $650 for this damn fuel problem. There is good news though, the stang is back and ripp'n. Thanks for the input fellas.

if you do the math the differance in price between 87 and 93 is 3 dollars when you fill up a 16 gallon tank. don't let the price trick you out of power.
