Default Fuel pump advice...

I'm looking to upgrade my fuel pump on the ol stang! I am currently running a 80 dry shot and using the fuel pump booster that came with my edelbrock kit, but I don't think that will cut with a 125 shot! What do you think would be the best pump for my set up? My goal is to push 370-390 rwhp by mid july! I will be getting a tune and my tuner recommended getting a new pump! He recommended the cobra pumps because he said they were the best, but I don't have $700 bucks to fork over so I need something less expensive! I've heard good and bad things about the walbros and I don't know if the svt focus pump will good for my set up! Thank you for your advice!

The SVT focus will make enough fuel to feed 450rwhp. so yeah its all you will need. I just got mine from randy at Modular depot for $89 plus shipping was like $94 cant beat it.

this makes no sense.

i use the 03 cobra setup, he should only go with the focus pump and drop it in his stock tank

He means they change the Fuel pumps to dual Focus pumps, so it has more fuel. this is a common mod on cobras.

He may be correct. This past weekend when I was at the Modularpowerhouse Dynoday there was a Burgandy 03 Cobra that dyno'd just before me.

It previously had Porten eaton, upper/lower pullies, intake, full exhaust, and 75 shot nitrous. It made 678 rwtq before blowing the belt off at 3700 rpms.

This time it had a Whipple 2.3L, pullied for 18 psi, and all boltons. It made 565rwhp before belt slip and maxing out the factory Cobra pumps. They didn't even let him touch the 100 shot. (Probably would've made close to 700/800). The only reason he had made that much was because he had upgraded all fuel lines, but maxed out anyway. Tim Barth and Jerry from SCT suggested he upgrade to the Focus Pumps asap and a Kenne Bell BAP, or Upgrade to the earlier 96-98 Return Style fuel systems.

I don't know much about the Returnless fuel systems, but I'd take Tim and Jerry's words for it. Do some more research though. Try www.svtperformance.com in the Terminators forums (Lots of info on Returnless fuel system upgrades) or www.corral.net

Hope that helps,
Philip K.

the reason they let him make more power was because of the BAP, not the focuz pump swap

i have heard of it, but its known now that the 03 pumps are better. people also used to go to dual aviator pumps, but that causes an even bigger problem

better as a single. but dual aviator pumps causes a electrical problem, not sure exactly the numbers, but something to do with voltage the pumps use vs the voltage the ecu gives....man wheres white99gt when you need him
