99 SVT Cobra - - GT? Ideas?

i have a 1998 mustang v6 with a ton of work and am selling it to someone for 6500. i have been searching for a 99 - 04 Mustang GT stick. I ended up finding a lot but nothing worth my time. finally i found a 99 SVT Cobra for sale nice car. completely stock 1 owner and 103,000 miles though. what is recommended to buy? any inputs? ides? should i keep looking or should i jump on this cobra? there asking for 7000 for the cobra. worried about the miles and things going. will it be worth my time? esp. with gas so high. please any input would help. thanks a lot

how much are you willing to spend? There are good deals floating around on low millage cobra's and mach's your just going to pay more. I wouldn't buy one with high of millage though. check autotrader.com, cars.com and sometimes ever carmax has some decent prices

Personally I wouldn't buy the 99 with over 100k miles. Keep an eye out for 03/04 machs or gt's if you can get a better deal. You should be able to find a low milage (30-40k) stang out there...like stated above it's going to be more than 7k though.

7K is a smoking deal for a '99 SVT!

100,000 miles ain't shit to these cars. Yes there will be some maintnance, but you will be replacing parts for upgrades. For example a new 4.10 gear(if it has stock), you'll want to replace the clutches in the carrier. 100,000 miles It's do for a good clutch and maybe a liter flywheel. As far as the engine goes, 100,000 miles is nothing! Ford built us long lasting engine N/A!
7k is a deal for a one owner car! Assuming it is nice and never been wrecked or hit to bad.

no one knows what was on the car for the first 100,000 miles before the car was returned to stock to sell though.

Exactly my point. 7k a good deal as it may be I would never buy a sports car with that many miles on it. People buy these cars for a reason...and that reason is not to get groceries.

ehhh...I just checked kelly blue book and a 99 cobra in "good" condition w/100k is valued at 7800 private party value.

the man is 39 and moving to Florida. were from new jersey. talked to him and he stated that it was his daily driver to work 40 miles a day. wasn't beaten. its in good condition. i want to do some upgrades to it also. i only have about 7500 max to spend on a car. so not too sure what to do.

eh f*ck it dude, do it. i'm guessin' w/in 50k-75k ya might have to do some engine work, but who knows. even if u have to have the engine rebuilt what would that run? $1k-$2k? i couldn't see it being more then that, so even if u do have to do that it'll be $9,000 total, not bad i think. but that's just my opinion...

very true. all great points. i plan on financing a new mustang in 2010 any way so i wont have it for too long. what might be some things to look for in the cobra before buying it? should i try and get 6500 for it? any comments? or should i just go with buying my brothers pickup truck for a couple of years until i finance a new one?

If you're only planning on keeping it for a couple years why would you buy it and put money into it? Buy something you don't have have to put money into and when you get a new one in a couple years you can go crazy on it from all the money you saved. Plus you'll have a much better platform at 0 miles instead of 100k+.
