Help With New Exhaust Setup
Ok i recently bought an automatic '04 GT .
It has 2 flows under it already and from watching videos on Youtube, I really like how the Mac Prochamber sounds when combined. This is the One i was looking at: http://www.speedconcepts.net/product...roducts_id=109 Now my question is: I live in Texas, so i need my Cats, Do i have to order some also? Or can i just buy this mid pipe, and use the stock cats? I want to get it welded on cause i heard that just bolting it on tends to lead to leaks faster than when having it wleded, can i even get this welded? So basically, how i see it in my head is: I buy the prochamber and the o2 extenders, and take it to a shop and they weld it on real quick and boom, i enjoy, is that how its supposed to go? *ALSO I got this car for a 5 year payment, so i cant really change out the headers or put a cam on it cause it will void my warranty, so im also wandering will this fit my stock headers? |
You can get the prochamber welded together, but to not weld it to the stock manifold or catback. Why not just buy a catted prochamber though? http://dagostinoracing.com/index.php...oducts_id=7216

Taking out your cats will probably void the warranty also.
Anyway, if the pro-chamber doesn't come w/ cats already on it, then get some aftermarket cats (I like Magnaflows). However, be prepared for people to deny you when it comes to welding them on because a lot of shops don't want to mess around w/ the law like that. Also, O2 extensions are only needed w/ long tube headers but MILs are needed if you plan on running for a while w/o cats. |
Definately just get the catted prochamber like stated above. Don't go cutting a welding a bolt on there is no need. That's why it is called a "bolt-on". Oh headers are not going to completely void you warranty. I have longtubes, off road x pipe and catback and I've had my car worked on under factory warranty twice. Once was to replace a leaking axel seal and another to replace a leaking valve cover gasket. Neither time did they question me about after market parts. They must be able to prove that your after market part caused the problem that you want fixed.

Sweet, thanx for the inputs fellas.
So i see with the cats, its jumps about $150, how much do yall think i will be looking at with install also? Yeah i dont know whats all under there, i just poked my head under when i changed the oil and noticed i had to flows, but i do believe its still the stock headers, and mid pipe. |
Install of just a midpipe won't be much. Call around and get quotes...I'd say 75-100 bucks.

what are the benefits of taking off your cats and leaving them on?

 Leaving them on = a few less hp, quieter, better for the environment and you should be able to pass emissions without question. |

yeah im definitely leaving them on, i don't have the tools to keep taking them on and off.
Just wanted to know the difference. Yeah it sounds ok right now (at about 2-3 thousand rpms) and but im hoping this mid-pipe will bring it out some more. :D |
One more question,
I have stock headers, so would i need the pro-chamber for short tube headers, or long tube? |
short tube...
i have a cattless mac h pipe and had turned off my rear o2 through my xcal2. i pass PA inspection/emmissions with ease. and PA is really really strict with emmissions. |
Ok now im ready to order my Prochamber.
Im having trouble finding one that already has cats on it, so im guessing ill just have to order some high flow cats separately. Is it worth it to order separate cats, or just use the stock ones? Again just to clarify, i have stock headers, so i need to order the prochamber for short tube headers? Anyone know where i can find the best deal? or is AmericanMuscle.com the best way to go? P.S. Here is a link also to check out my stang, let me know what yall think about it, and feel free to give suggestions on what should be added next! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3041270 |
