Temp gauge takes forever to go up to normal
I thought there was a thread about this awhile ago, but I couldn't find it. so sorry if I'm repeating.
Anyways, In the mornings i usually the car warm up for a few minutes before I leave. It usually takes me about 10 minutes to get to the freeway. By the time I get on the freeway, the temp gauge has barely moved. Once I'm on the freeway and driving for a bit, it slowly moves up a notch or two and then just stays there. It's not until I get off the freeway and drive around for a few that it finally moves up to normal and stays there. Any ideas on a fix for this and what the problem could be? |
your thermostat may be sticking halfway open...seems far fetched but they are cheap and easy to replace. i drive about 5-6 miles to work from home with 5 mintue warm up and mine is only half way to normal operating temp.

Have you installed a gauge overlay or done anything to the gauges. Maybe it is sticking ?

either thermostat is open early/sticking or you're REALLY low on coolant. T-stat change is cake. LMK if you need a hand.

Coolant should be. I'll double check though. If I'm driving around town and everything it will go up to normal and stay, but freeway is another story. Whenever I'm on the freeway it likes to go down.
R3D, whenver I come by for that oil separator maybe you can take a look. |

thats a sign that your thermostat is sticking open. replace it with a new one and it should be good to go. i had a CRX that did something similar got hot at stop lights got cold while driving at highway speeds.
