24# cobra injectors

Will 24# injectors out of a 96-98 cobra work on a 99gt?
Thanks in advance!

Yes.....but why?

I am running a 5.4 engine. I am thinking the tune will might be easier to get perfect with the 24's as 24X8/330(0.581 injector per ci) is a lot closer to 19X8/281(0.540 injector per ci)than it is 19X8/330(0.46 injector per ci). I am thinking mine is going to have to be a tad richer than a "standard" 5.4 swap since I am going to really want the little extra fuel to cool the cyls since Im sitting at about 11.3:1 comp since I am going to do the breakin miles and then the tune. Tune might be damn near spot on with the 24's or closer for the breakin miles than the 19's will be.

Yes, I know I overthink everything

Well, you seem to have this figured out and could be 100% correct. Normally, I would not see much of a difference between 19's and 24's.....this is why I asked.

Honestly, it looks good on paper but who knows what happens in real life. I guess it would depend on how much the ecu uses the 02 sensor, maf voltage, etc... I just wanted to make sure they would or could fit IF needed. Who knows, might allready be rich with the 19#ers.

And your correct, usually the need to go from 19's to 24's dont make much sense, my theory could be flawed also, who knows LOL

Ask your tuner.

Im going to see what it runs at on the 19's(ive got my wideband) and if its lean Ill throw in the 24s, if its rich Ill just live with it until I get the breakin miles over then its time for the tune.

go with the 24's. Trust me. The adapter plates screw up the fuel atomization so you have to run a couple % higher values on the MAF xfer to make up for it. So, not only are you running richer but you're running richer again and richer again and delivering enough fuel for 300rwhp by the time you're done. I'm at 100% duty cycle at 13:1 AF at 6100rpm and 35#'s pressure through my 21lb injectors. You need the 24's. I'd even go as high as a 30 if you plan to use nitrous.

The 19's may be able to run it but they'll be at 100% duty cycle and you'll have a lot of room for bad things like lean spikes.

And I'm not certain if the injectors on the old cobras use the same connector as the GT's. IIRC the thin body and thick body injectors have different connectors for the electronics.
