Default GT/CS rear diffuser and non-stock mufflers

I have a 2007 GT California Special and I'm thinking of installing the FRPP/Borla M-5230-5GT exhaust (just the axle back). Somewhere I remember seeing a comment that the rear diffuser on the CS can be melted by certain after market exhausts.

Does anyone have experience with this? I guess I should call Ford Racing to check, but wanted you guys' opinion first.

Current mods are BBK throttle body, Steeda CAI, XCal3 tune.

Many thanks,

keep decent clearance between plastic bits and hot ass exhaust and you should be fine. I use 1/4" as my minimum space. Pipes with oversize chrome tips, maybe a tad more.

I installed the FRPP GT "borla stinger" mufflers and the x-pipe kit from FRPP. I had the Flowmaster kit for the 05-07 GT before that as well. I have had no problems with my diffuser on my 07 GT/CS, with either set.

-Just FYI, the FRPP exhaust sounds awesome. I would go that route. The Flowmasters didn't hold up too well...IMO. had a cracked baffle on one after the warranty expired.

Actually after much research I went with the Magnaflow magnapacks...I LOVE the sound. Not too aggressive, but super-deep bass at idle and throttle-off. When you get on it hard it's loud as hell without any crackle or ricing.

So what made you decide to go with the Magnapacks? I was looking at Corsa, FRPP/Borla, and Magnaflow... and was even considering SLP's...

My Ford performance shop in the area didn't have those in stock, but had the FRPP stingers and the FRPP x-pipe converter.

I love the Borla-Ford Racing variant... looks the best on the car IMO...

they drone a little bit at 1800-2000rpm, but when I get on it with the x, it sounds like "I am legend..."

Post a sound clip...would love to hear your Magnapacks and setup...

I will try and get a clip of mine when it stops snowing...f ing chicago weather...
