Vert_Lover 11-12-2004 06:50 AM

I thought antennas just screwed on and off?

spike_africa 11-12-2004 07:55 AM

They do. Just screw the old one off and screw the new one on.

How's radio reception? Any different?

WaterDR 11-15-2004 02:14 PM

Not quite as good. Good stations are the same, though, as before. I use XM 99% of the time.

my2001GT 11-18-2004 12:16 PM

I just got one tooo!!!

They're okay as far as radio reception, not as good as stock...
Warning: Becareful when screwing it on... the paint chips very very easily!!

By the way this is my first post!!!!

I need me one of those! :)

sultanghahtani 11-30-2004 07:48 AM

the paint on the car chips?

EH819 11-30-2004 07:54 AM

I like the 8" antenna much better than the stock piece. It gives the car a sleeker look. I haven't really noticed reduced reception with the smaller antenna.

That can chip too, but I'm pretty sure he was talking about the paint on the antenna.

2000 STEEDA 11-30-2004 07:57 AM

I've been wanting to install one... but was afraid my reception would go to the dogs.

Blue Thunder 11-30-2004 08:03 AM

What about that 16'' billet antenna?

sultanghahtani 12-01-2004 10:58 AM

I hate the stock antenna's look. It is too big. I want to make sure the reception stays good though. Is the 8" bendable? I like to use a car cover, and not have to cut a hole in it.

ThePunisher 12-02-2004 06:36 PM

I got mine a couple days ago. I love the look over the factory radio tower. And yes it does just screw in.

The 8 inch is Deffinately not bendable.... It's designed to you don't have to keep taking ur anntena off and on to put a car cover over the car...

It's a pita take to the car wash... (Although personally I wash it myself..)

Just my 2 cents

dilo2001gt 12-06-2004 07:11 AM

yeah i have one too. I hated the 29 inch one so I got a smaller one. It looks like an automatic one that didn't go down all the way but I still think it looks better than the stock one.

It will work with a car cover. When I use my car cover, I have a hole big enough for the stock antenna. With the 8" you would not need to cut a hole in the car cover.

Han Solo 12-07-2004 08:17 PM

I probably shouldn't post this here but the first thing I did to my GT (before any shorties were available) was to remove the antenna and make a stubby that car cover would go over. Just put a 2" stainless screw in, slide a piece of 3/8" fuel line over it, then add a black vacuum cap. I think the thread was 10-32 but not sure. I can still pick up a couple of strong stations 50 miles from home. No close up pics of it but it looks just like a store bought stubby antenna.

Yes it will fit...

Just becareful not to smack it or hit it with anything in the cold... or it'll break

sultanghahtani 12-10-2004 07:19 AM

so this antena is very fragile it seems. As I would be using my car cover frequently, this makes me nervous. i wonder how the Bullit would work.
