Header Help?

Hey I have bbk long tubes with o/r h...Both my gaskets are leaking where the headers meet the engine. What kind of gaskets do I need to fix them or any special brand thats better and whats the easiest way to fix them.? Thanks for any help! Ohh and its a 2002gt 5speed

the guy that put my headers in custom made mine, he said he never had any luck with purchased gaskets? but i have no complaints, so far they have been great, might be something to ask about

Stock gaskets are good but I seen a lot of people sick of gaskets who just buy the Copper RTV and use that only.

thanks..where can i get them from..whats the easiest way to put them on..some people drop the tran, others lift the engine and i also heard u can drop the whole front suspension

Unbolt the mounts and jack the engine up and if you can access all the bolts, then do it that way. If not, it's prob easier to just drop the k-member.

Stock.

stock Ford gaskets. Cost around $70.

if i undo the mounts and jack the engine, what about the trans coming up..do i have to unbolt that or what..thanks for all the help

No, leave the trans bolted. Just jack it up so the engine mounts are off the k-member (should raise the engine about an 1" or so). If this doesn't give you the room you need to get all the bolts, drop the k-member. Also, don't forget to remove the starter.

To do a good enough job so they wont leak again I think you will need to drop the k member. Its easy once you get to this point.

Also here is a good walkthrough to do the job

You may also want to consider Stage 8 Header bolts so they never loosen again.

My buddy installed my longtubes along with about 4-5 other sets and each time used percy crush gaskets and stage 8 locking header bolts. Have not had a single problem with any of them. Like mentioned before both of these can be found at summitracing.com.
