Question about racing seats and stock seat belts..

Hey bros I am planning on purchasing a set of Corbeau Legacy racing seats for my 02 GT. One question i have is whether i can use the stock seat belts. Does the seat belt attach to the mounting bracket on the stock seat or is it attached to the seat itself?

I'm not an expect on aftermarket seats, but what I've heard is you have to use the stock seat belts, or something like them. You can only use the ones that strap you in or whatever if you have a rollbar. Anybody else hear this?

Yeah u can use the stock seatbelts. If not you get a four (or five ) point harness, which mounts to a bar behind your seat that you have to put there your self, which basically makes ur already small back seats completly useless..so if u get into serious racing get the harness...if not just keep using the stock seatbelt ;)

I think the 99 newer cars have the seat belt attached to the seat. 98's and older have the seat belt attached to the floorpan itself and are independent of the seat assembley.

ok.

if you buy the corbeaus, make sure to get the slider for your car from them. the slider will have a tab for you to mount the portion of the seatbelt that is connected to the seat, as it's fastened by a bolt to the seat frame.

i had to do this with my daily driver, as i popped a set of corbeau forza's in there. :)

im getting the Corbeau mounting brackets so is that all i need?

that and you'll have to remove the seatbelt buckle from the factory seat, then attach it to the slider.

How do you use the stock seat belt with the forza's? That seat has a fixed back -- I can't picture in my head how the stock lap belt would route...

i'll have to take a pic or two of the seatbelt in use, but you can use them with the forzas. :)

All Mustang seat belts mount there, I am talking about the console side. Pre 99's are attached to the floor, 99-newer are part of the seat bracketry.

Please do post pictures. Something like forzas would be much cheaper, but I don't need to lose the stock seatbelts yet.

Im running the Corbeau Forza's right now and using the stock seat belts. The lap part doesn't sit flush w/the body due to the raised sides, but it's better than nothin. I'll post a pic when my site comes back up.
