Prochamber???

Ok i'm going to ask a dumb question now but keep in mind i'm in high school, the only car hobbyist im my family. What the heck is a prochamber??? How much, what does it do, where to get, etc.

its an h pipe without cats....it sounds awesome and gives great power!

its not an h-pipe. if you look under your car before the mufflers is a set of exhuast pipes the run form the front by the engine back with a tub going across the middle this looks like a h and thus is called a h-pipe. the aftermarket prochamber replaces this pice of the exhuast called the mid pipe (h-pipe is just a name for that style mid pipe, prochamber and x-pipe are orther names of mid pipes.) the prochamber has a big box where the tube across goes for the h-pipe this lets the exhuast gases mix and go the rout of less resistance. adding hp and sound(if you get one without cats).

Trust me, this thing is AMAZING. Feels like I lost torque down low, but the sound and the hp gain above 3k was worth it all. Its one of the "quieter" midpipes, but this thing is still really loud and I get compliments all the time.

price???? where do i get it???

blackbeast99gt 11-11-2004 07:34 PM

Ebay if you can find a good deal, mac's web site, partshopper.com, a variety of places...it's worth it...get it!!!!

madmatt 11-11-2004 07:53 PM

www.crmotorsports.com has it for 195.99 right now if I remember correctly. Dont forget Mil Eliminators( which you can get right here at MT)

i agree, it's probably one of the mids that give you the most power and has a very deep and bad ass sound without sunding too loud. It's the only good MAC product in my opinion.

Just found this in a google search believe it or not and though I'd post a question...

I'll be ordering new midpipe and catback tomorrow... trying to figure out exactly what I want... I had been planning to go with the SLP X-pipe and Loudmouth combination... I love the idea of being able to remove the cats from the X-pipe and/or putting long tubes on my car at very little additional expense... gives me a lot of flexibility if and when I decide to be a law breaker!

But I've also heard things about the Prochamber being the best (power wise) midpipe... I know the difference between H and X... where's Prochamber fit in in terms of performance... I had heard that on a mostly stock Mustang (which mine is atm) an offroad (cat less) midpipe will cause you to lose power. Would that transfer over to a prochamber causing me to lose power until I put on a Supercharger being that it has no cats?

Someone let me know... thanks! Oh yeah... is Prochamber a copywrited name by Mac or is it an actual style that I could get in stainless steel?

Mac makes the Prochamber, and I will tell you from experience, that you WILL lose torque down low. Quite a substantial amount to be honest, didnt really like that.

RedSilver88 11-18-2004 03:38 PM

I love the Mac Prochamber, great sound and dropped me nearly 3 tenths in the 1/4.

Madmatt: Just curious did you see actually see a before and after dyno showing a loss of torque? If so how much?
