borla or flowmaster

ok so i am really looking or exhaust for my 2002 gt as of right now its totaly stock. i have heard borla in person and it sounds sick but flowmaster i heard people talk about so if anyone can direct me in to what is better i am looking or an agressive sound when u want it but when ur just crusing it doesn't kill u so and any other mods i can do to my car would help thanks

SxyXc 07-18-2007 11:29 AM

i like the sound of the borla better.. and as for other mods you shpud do gears and new a new mid pipe... i would say go catted x for either choice

3V2000GT 07-18-2007 11:34 AM

I havehad Borla on my car for 7 years now. Absolutely loved borla, but wanted a change. Im in the process to switching to mac catback. if you get Borla go with an x pipe off road or catted, borla + x pipe = tits. if you go with flowmaster you will saving about 2-300 dollars and go with an h pipe.

if i was you i would consider mac as well, def over flowmaster.

jjtgiants 07-18-2007 03:31 PM

borla.....to be quite honest, the two aren't even in the same ballpark. Flowmaster sounds pretty good, but will give you ZERO performance increase. Borla will give you great sound and a little power bump..especially with supporting mods like an x or h pipe

Durkman7 07-18-2007 06:23 PM

ok so i figured i am going with borla cat back so what type of x pipe should i get again? and for the gears how much does that cost how far up should i go i don't race on the track really i like to do more like if someone wants to go on the highway kinda raceing but usualy not to bad i kno 4:10 but people say it puts lots of stress on ur rear.

andy other easy blot on mods i am already getting a new throttle body any other tips would be nice thanks alot

don't forget about emissions. dunno what its like in Jersey...here in Ga you can get away with a lot.

redfire04 07-18-2007 09:09 PM

I would go for the borla. My friend just switched from flows to borla on his 01 cobra and picked up 13 hp (dyno proven). Only mods are headers, o/r x and intake/tb/plenum.

Magnaflow is another company that makes a straight through design which you will see better gains that the flows at a cheaper price compared to the borla.

v6'stang 07-19-2007 07:44 AM

exactly!

Thats crap. I have flowmasters with an O/R X and dumps and I can say you feel the power it makes in the seat of the pantmeter. I'd guess I picked up an easy 15 to 20hp with that alone.Borla is over priced. Some people just like it because it is over priced.Makes them think its better then it is.

Your feeling from the 0/R X, not the flowmasters. I 100% agree with you about Borla being over priced.

Jack The Ripper 07-19-2007 10:53 AM

if you do gears do 4:10's the rear can easily handle them, and trust me 4:10s fuggin rawk.
3:73's and 3:90s are for women.

Durkman7 07-19-2007 11:05 AM

any other opinons

00blkstanggt 07-19-2007 11:09 AM

I do like the sound of my flows personally, but I also have the x-pipe and headers to back it up. Borla sound good, but have a quiet tone for my taste. I am possibly lokoing into some magnaflow catback or something cause my flos are juist weld in mufflers at the moment. (was already on the car)

Durkman7 07-19-2007 11:15 AM

hey i ur right ur exhaust sound way good but i am not getting headders yet and i have heard borla in person also on the same car as mine and it sounds nice so i donno what kind of x pipe should i get or should i get one?

SLP LOUDMOUTH!!!!!!!!! with X pipe and high flow cats

HokieStang00 07-19-2007 06:59 PM

I've been more than happy with my SLP LMII's. The best thing you can do is listen to clips until you find something you're happy with. If it's cheaper, than great for you. If it happens to be Borla, enjoy the overtime.
