in my old town in ny the police sent some cops back to school to learn about nitrous and how to identify it. they started handing out tickets to people for not having a hasmat license and tag on there car. first fine was $500. mostly ricers were getting pulled over but no one was safe.

in most states its only illegal for the bottle to be open. but you would have ot check to be sure of that.

NoKturnaL 05-26-2005 10:55 AM

cant you just take the bottle out of your car when its not needed? and only have it in there when u are going/coming from the track?

madmatt 05-26-2005 01:05 PM

Thats the idea, but you know how many law abiding citizens drive mustangs right...lol

Funny as hell sig!

I would ask a local cop. I checked with a State Trooper here in Pa and was told that nothing is illegal about it. I do know that if you carry too much, you are in violation of DOT laws. It is no different than if you are carrying too much bleach or even house paint. Many guys running home from Home Depot are unknowingly breaking DOT laws if they are doing a big paint job over the weekend, but nobody will ever enforce it.

If you get the Venom-1000, you need nothing else, but you can always add features. For example, the system does not come with a bottle warmer which is not mandatory, but a nice to have.

In Va I think you can have the bottle in the car, but it cant be hooked up. Either way the bottle isnt in my car unles Im going to the track, but even then its not mounted.

Springs,

as far as i know, nitrous is legal in CO....not quite sure of the exact rules (if it is open or closed bottle) but i do also know you can run nitrous at bandimere.

i'm just gonna ask a cop or my speedshop about the rules when i wanna get some juice.

I don't know if its illegal down here in Texas, but for the most part, cops don't seem to give a damn!

mike sweeney 05-27-2005 06:23 PM

From what I have been told in Minnesota It is illegal to have your nitrous bottle hooked up to the system while driving on the street. And it also illegal to have the bottle anywhere in the passenger compartment, so that can pose a real problem for guys running Hatchbacks!!

Minnesota the state where nothing is allowed :jerk: :jerk: :jerk:

Badfish 05-27-2005 06:43 PM

..while there at it why dont they just go ahead and make blowers illegal..

WaterDR 05-27-2005 07:16 PM

There really is no logical reason for nitrous to be illegal. None...what so ever.

madmatt 05-27-2005 08:25 PM

My only guess is that kids might be stupid (kids will be kids) and try to inhale it, lol, which, they'll regret as non medical grade nitrous has sulfer mixed in I believe, and if you huff it, it makes you weely weely sick. But yes, it is gay to be illegal.

Check w/ the Springs PD to be sure.I found out when I had nitrous on my previous car that in the Denver metro area(Aurora,Arvada,Denver, etc),that it was legal to have nitrous in the car and connected to the system. What would make it illegal would be if the bottle was open or the system armed.

loadedgt 06-09-2005 03:07 PM

If you have ever seen a nitrous fire you will understand why it should be illegal for it to be in the passenger compartment. I am a firefighter and have seen a nitrous fire on the street. Needless to say the driver died. Just keep it in the trunk. Kansas has absolutely no law against nitrous anywhere though

spike_africa 06-10-2005 09:00 AM

like in the F&F kinda fire?
