NPI= Non Performance Improved heads <---(PI)
PI= Performance Improved heads non NPI='s who the heck knows. the 96-98 mustang gt's had NPI heads and intakes these flow alot less than PI heads and make the motor have crappy power. 99+ GT's have PI heads. these flow alot more air and thus gave the big HP jump rom 98 to 99 modles. same thing for intakes they are different for NPI and PI cars. you have to use the same intake with the same heads. But there are adaptor plates out that let you use the PI intake on non pi headed motors. |
thanks spike that cleared alot of ?? for me....

So if 99-04 are PI heads, what is the difference in the intakes for 99-00? I have seen a replacement plastic intake.. What is the diff? Would it improve a 99-00?

on early modle pi heads the intake doesnt have a metal crossover tube for the coolante the plastic part there ha s atendancy to break or crack and leak. the newer ones have a metal part there instead.
