4v stock cam timing??

I've read several things all over the internet about Ford 4 valve motors having inconsistent stock cam timing. Do any of you have any experience with this? and if so do you think there is any hp left on the table by fixing it?

HP will be different from every car as well as stock cam timing. I dont believe anyone has done a before and after dyno after getting the cam timing correct on either stock or aftermarket cams.

If youve got stock cams then I wouldnt worry about it. Unless you're in the middle of a rebuilt.

Yeah, I think it probably be more trouble than it's worth, but I was just curious if it would make any difference. Did Ford not spend the time dialing it in to save $$ or what?

It's just factory tolerances, just like how the rear end can be off-centered as much as an 1". Plus, unless it is off by a lot, the only way to adjust cam timing w/o adjustable cam gears is to move the chain up or down a tooth on the gear. Essentially, yes, this all boils down to Ford saving some bucks by discarding less.
