Supercharger or bolt-ons?

So here's my question: I've got a big chunk of cash coming to me in May. I want to get a supercharger, but I'm wondering if it's practical. My engine has just under 80k miles, and is practically stock. What would I need to purchase to put a supercharger in my car from stock, and how much would it cost all together?

i will sell you a kenne bell with 5 miles on it

pepsiaddict 01-26-2007 08:05 AM

Kenne Bells are sweet. That's prolly what I'd get if I went through with it. You'd have to wait until May though, I won't have the cash until then. How much do you want for it? What are the specs? Where are you at?

i am asking 4,800 intercooled 9 psi all parts everything i am in Missouri shipping coust me 152 but if you buy it i will pay shipping

pepsiaddict 01-26-2007 08:34 AM

Hm... That might be too much for my engine since it's a DD with 80k miles.

Youll need a tune, injectors, plugs, fuel pump, possibly a new maf. Then of course if you race it then youll need to beef things up un the rear and get some stick tires.

that sounds damn pricy. Maybe a built 4.6 or a 5.4 would be a better investment with my miles? What kind of HP can you get out of a built 4.6 and where can you get one?

dude your car is just now breaking in with 80,000 miles. Mine has 115,000 with about 360whp and it runs like new. Get the supercharger. I got my s-trim kit done for about $2000 tuned and everything. It makes tons more power than if you just had bolt ons. check out vortech head units. As long as the blower spins itll last you forever.

Gah

Kenne Bells are so redic. To get them done and tuned they are like 6 grand. You can get a freaking twin turbo kit custom built and tuned for that shit, hell you could do a budjet built motor and a used vortech for that price.

I could never bring myself to get one new or even slightly used.

BTW 80k miles is fine for a blower, GO FOR IT!

pepsiaddict 01-26-2007 12:24 PM

Shit, I just called Alternative Auto Performance and they quoted me $3700 for the Vortech kit plus $1000 for install and tune.

flyinfox 01-26-2007 01:40 PM

my kenne bell comes with all fuel injectors and a bap all you don't need a fuel pump with a bap inless you go more than 11 psi

you shouldnt be having other people install it.

I'm trying to make the same decision. After a bunch of research, I'll probably go with the Vortech Mongoose kit from Modularpowerhouse.com. Comes with everything, plus tune= $3,800

Sooo true really.

Anyway, want to know my story? I bought a blower for my car with 60k+ on it. Took it in to have it installed and found out it three pistons failed compression. Had to get a new motor.
