SCT pro racer vs. PMS

Anyone out there that maybe has experience with both? I love the idea of the PMS being able to tune without having to reflash the computer all the time. Is there anything SCT's pro racer package can do that the PMS can't? I need to make a decision on this asap. Any input would be appreciated.

btw, if it matters, I'll be using it on my '88 Coupe that has a '96 Cobra motor with an S-trim.

the pro-racer pack includes either a handheld (Xcal2) or a chip and chip burner. Reflashing the computer with a handheld is simple and quick enough to do at the track so that's how I'd go. Once you're tuned you shouldn't really ever need to change much and there's timing and fuel adjustability in the Xcal2 (which you can set to your preferences) so if you only need to make minor tweaks then that's the best option. I don't like chips because pulling the ECU out is a bitch.

I considered the PMS but SCT has been so easy to use I'm super glad I made taht choice. PMS would probably be my choice for a full race motor where tuning is happening all the bloody time and there's no steady state tune that would be appropriate.

Thanks a million for the input. I just scored a new-in-the-box handheld for free, so my decision just became much simpler. Is there a way to plug a wideband into it and datalog? It's something I'd like to do in the long run. (Right now I just want to get it running!)

yes there is. I'll have to find the link but I was just checking out the site yesterday so it should be possible to find the URL. If you call SCT they'll tell you you can't but I've already found people that figured out how and posted instructions.

Enjoy.

you can definitely plug one in. I have a x-cal2 but i'm going to trade it in as soon as the SCT livewire comes out so it will work as a digital guage too.
