will my future mods get me my goals?

I currently have a 1997 GT, auto, 44k miles on the original motor.
It is a full bolt on, and i have a SQ Trim mongoose kit waiting to be installed with a 255 walbro intank pump, and a MPH boost pipe.
I am going to get the kit installed and my car dynotuned to see where i am at.
I am then going to install a PI Intake Manifold and some custom grind blower cams.
I will then again get the car re dynoed and tuned.
My final steps of the car will be to add a Paxton A/A intercooler, a Mini race bypass valve, and then put a smaller pulley on the blower due to the loss of lbs from the cams and i/c.
I will obviously get the car redynoed again.
All of this will be done in the following stages i just listed.
Do you think this setup along with all the bolt ons will reach me my goal of 385-400rwhp??

thanks guys

I would have to say no it wont make 400whp. After you put the s/c kit on, the next mod should be the intercooler and smaller pulley. If you get a nice intercooler youll only lose like .5 psi of boost and your IATemps will be way lower than if you were to run it non-intercooled. My intake temps are hovering around 190-200 degrees. In the summer heat Ill probably get some detonation. At least thats what my tuner told me. So if I put the intercooler on itll gain like 40whp and no detonation. The real restriction is your heads. It would be great if you could just have them ported when you get cams. Or you could just swap in a 99-04 engine. Used engines go for cheap. I say intercooler/pulley/bpv first, then get cams later.

Not sure how much power youll get. But Id start saving for a built tranny, converter, and trans brake from bc-automotive.com

i am actually very confident in my tune. I am going to Outrageous Mustangs, supposedly the best modular motor shop in south jersey.

not gunna see 400 unless you do a PI swap or get ported NPI heads. Either of those will make your 400 at the wheels with proper tuning and provided your bottom end is in good shape. Your mileage is fairly low so I wouldn't stress much.

If you do the PI swap (hear me out) you'll see probably 425hp with 6-8lbs thanks to the increased compression. Yes compression isn't always friends with boost but in the modulars boost + more compression = mad power. And yes you can get that to run on pump gas. Without the better flowing heads you'll have trouble meeting your goal. Ported NPI heads should get you closer to 360-380 on 8lbs with the cams. Just an estimate.

i honestly would be happy with 380....380 through an auto is nowhere what 380 is through a stick

my estimates were based on a manual tranny. adjust down 5%... still 360-380rwhp is a LOT for most people. You're talking about a car that will scare the bejeezus out of most people at the flick of an ankle. people talk about 400hp 500hp 600hp cars... but very few could stomach driving one regularly. They're... intense.

where is he located and why do you say that?? ive never heard of him...

anybody else with thoughts/comments/suggestions about my original post?

Teal_Beast 01-10-2007 08:08 AM

i think the first mod should be a PI heads/intake swap with some port work.

THen you'll see 400whp

and dont let r3dn3ck scare you a 380whp daily driver isnt that bad :p

r3dn3ck 01-10-2007 09:49 AM

not saying 380 is scary for guys that go for that sort of thing... it's scary for pretty much everyone else.

I'm saying that the difference between 360rwhp and 400 isn't enough to really lose sleep over. It'll still be plenty fast.
