Smog questions - 99 GT + SLP Loudmouth
Hi, newly registered, but been lurking a long time ;-)
I have an automatic '99 GT Convertible 35th Anniversary and just recently ordered an SLP Loudmouth Catback to wake her up a bit. I'm due for a smog check in a few months and was wondering if I should still pass smog? I'm in northern California by the way. Car is stock other than a CAI. Also, I want to do an x-pipe at some point, would this negativly affect smog enough that I should wait untill after I get it smogged? :dontknow: Thanks! |
a catback doesnt change your emmosions. the x-pipe on the other hand if its off road well thats all up to you.

In CA, all aftermarket x's are illegal for 4.6 mustangs. The catted pipes will pass the e-check, but not the visual inspection. CARB is pretty ass backwards on these things.
I have the SLP catted x though, but I'll swap my stock pipe back on for e-check. The catback shouldnt affect anything. |
the catback has no effect on smog, i would be more worried if they would pass you with no mufflers, since the LM only uses resonators..

You should pass smog no problem, but If the Santa Rosa sound police catch you, you may get a noise ticket. ( I used to live in Rohnert Park, too. I miss El Toritos)
You can replace cats "if" they're defective or inoperable, or the warranty ran out (80k). But from what I understand you can't mess with them otherwise. Well not, legally anyway. |
