HP gains with heads and cams?
i am so interested in doing heads and cams, But can never find out about how much hp gains to expect from this mod. if anyone knows where to find this info out please let me know where i can find this out!

The reason is that it depends on the year of the car and the type of heads and cams that you choose. If you have a 96-98 the gains will be higher as the 99+ have better heads to begin with.
If you want the car to be streetable then stay with a stage 1 setup on the cam. You can expect 60 rwhp with 99+ and 100 rwhp with a 96-98. The downside is that they are expensive to buy and install. It is also tough to get then setup correctly. If you want a really nice job, pricing is as follows: 1 - Cams: $600 2 - Heads: $2000 - $2500 3 - Installation: $900 4 - Dyno tune: $500 Don't forget, you will need a chip or programmer too. If you are very mechanically inclined, you can certainly do it yourself and finding used parts is always an option. Also, with stage 1 style cams, a dyno tune is good but you can get buy w/o one. |
Yea, tres expensive... just buy a supercharger and be done with it.

Oh dont worry i am going to get the blower, i am going to do some of the internals before going with a blower, Plus at my price why not do a blower

Look for about a 40 hp increase on a 02. Just a thought, if you really intend to put a blower on the you should consider VT's blower cams. They will help you now and you won't need to change them once you put the blower on.
If you don't race much just do cams, most of the gains will be up high in your rpm range out of reach for everyday driving. |
