Typhoon Intake....
Has anyone used this intake. If so are you happy with the gains, is it worth it's price? Just wondering. My current mods are BBK CAI, FLows, Gutted Cats on a stock H-pipe, Steeda Tri-Ax.
|
I havent used one but aftermarket intakes offer you little gain untill you have the power to back it up like nitrous, supercharger, turbo, or cams.
|
Personally I have not used it, I have seen threads/pictures about its poor quality casting though. But like Matt said, you need the supporting mods for it to really help.
|
Hmmm....so I guess I should take the ported heads, cams, headers, mid-pipe route first?
|
That intake is nothing more than an aluminum version of what came stock. If you spend the time cleaning up the casting, you probably would see some power, but who knows if the flanges are even square! Remember, Professional Products is a company that takes designs from Edelbrock, for example, that have taken years of R&D to make, and just copies it, casts it in China, and sells it for dirt cheap here.

if ya want to make power then heads are by far the best choice |
mm&ff new issue has a test on the new typhoon and how to install it the gains were about 11 hp and 3 tq lol id personally never buy it, i would get 1 from reichard racing tho i heard there awsome
|
would I see noticeable gains with my car? I was thinking about adding the typhoon lower and accufab upper/75mmTB all at the same time.

I have one in testing right now. It's shown itself to be a good quality (despite early problems on a few they're really well made) bit of bling with no worse power than stock and you can drill a direct port nitrous system into it
RR is great for blower cars but not for NA cars. HPS is another option that I really like. The HPS plenum is giant and if my spray bar prototype comes in any time soon I'll have a stealth nitrous spray kit coming out for it (available through HPS) in a few months. You just hook it up to your fuel and nitrous lines and go. |

of the 2 or so people that purchased the Typhoon intake and posted before and after dyno numbers none actually gained any HP even on a power adder car.
i'd spend my money elsewhere... |
It's basically stock... gains would be almost out of place. It is a really nice replacement for a plastic junk pile though.
|
Yeah it looks good, but not worth that kind of money.
|
An internal combustion motor is nothing more then an air pump. Anything you can do to allow more air in and more air out will help with efficiency. Generally speaking, though, gains are marginal n/a and improve quite a bit when a power adder is used.
If you think the mod is worth the price, that is a personal issue. |
Not sure if anyone heard but Trick Flow is making an intake spring of 07
