Problems w/ Cams HELP!!!!

Ok, the morning I drove to drop my car off to get it tuned it started acting weird. It kept dying, and the pedal was hard to press down. Once I got there I popped the hood and realized that my throttle body was hanging off! I was like WTF! The people who installed my intake manifold, left me there without putting all the bolts back on! Once I fixed that the idle became really weird. It lopes every 1/2 second?!?!?

After I got it back it still does it. But also when I drive it at about 2,000 rpms it act as if I was in to high of gear.

What should I do. I need her running perfect, not like this. The guy who tuned my car said that I need new o2 sensors and spark plugs...Will this make a difference?

PLEASE HELP!!!

What are some good o2 sensors?

Get Ford replacements.

Find a different shop and a reputable tuner.

did it run fine when you started to drive this morning and when you got there it started to mess up?

Did you reset your computer, disconnecting the battery? i know when the TB was hanging off, it was sucking in unregulated air, then it runs like crap cause the computer doesn't know about it so you usually start to run super lean and your car dies. once bolted back on, the car computer might still have that learning processing from the extra air, so you just need to reset it. usually a bad o2 won't make it run that bad but you never know. Get Ford and i've used Bosch and no problems. usually i would say anything electrical, get ford. but both are good.

Sparkplugs can make your car run like crap too, like it's hesitating or missing. you can pull them and look at them or just change them out. me, if one is bad, i don't care, i change them all out. good practice.

did you check everything else they might have touched, any other connectors or sensors? no vaccum leaks anywhere?

why some shops don't go over what they touched, when they call it Done, i will never know. before you sign and pay, tell them you want to look it over, drive it a mile down the street, they can go with you so they don't think your running off, to check things out. if not, they can say, you signed and payed and you might have messed with it when you got home. i woudn't go there again and i would spread the word.

Ok, I reinstalled the tb with a new gasket and it fixed the heavy loping problem. But now it has no lope. I reseted the battery and Im about to retune it. Im going to drop it off at Dallas Mustang this week and get a new tune and o2 sensors.

take it to a better tuner... thats why it dynoed low #'s

and this may sound silly but you'd be surprised...

when you bought yer cams did you buy lifters and valves and all that yadda yadda?

stage2roush2002 09-10-2006 05:14 PM

No just cams and springs...

i'd have gotten everything

idk how the ohc heads are...

but in a ohv engine... when you buy a new cam you buy the lifters, rockers, valves, and pushrods... why... cause when you don't do everything the cams tend to flatten out...

but i really don't know my stuff on ohc engines... i assume its the same tho

New lifter aresn't really needed since they do not contact the camshaft and only serve to maintain proper valve lash. Also, the rockers (followers) can usually be re-used since they are roller and don't wear down too fast. However, it also depends on the mileage of your engine too...

True, i've always been told and believe that when you change out your cam or cams, to always change out your springs. If it has alot of miles, then i would change out other parts of my valve train.

Dallas mustangs, i had my 4.10 gears installed there back in 03. good times.

And what are some good ones for nitrous?
