Well I'll be ordering my 4.10 gear and SCT tuner package on Friday, and just want to know how much of a difference I'm going to feel. I'm told that the tuners are especially beneficial to automatics, but will these two really make a huge difference? Also, I have a question about the tuner in general. Can you make changes to the tune on the fly? For example, if I get 18" wheels, can I just plug the tuner in and make that one change, or do I have to get a whole new tune?

You can expect a half second or better drop in your 1/4 times. Youll also have to have the car off to make changes and it takes about 1 min to reprogram the car. And yes you can make simple changes like rim/tire size with your tune.

You shouldnt have to change anything with a rim change as the tire height for the new wheels should be the same as stock.

What kind of tires are you running? A lot of people actually run slower times after gears becase they cant drive, or they spin more.

245/45/17 Kuhmo Ecstas? They also say Supra on them. They'll eventually be replaced by 295/35/18's though.

Those tires arent good for drag racing. Neither are 18" rims.

Well while I will be taking it to the strip every now and then, it's mostly just a DD. What kind of tires would you recommend for my new rims? (Currently I had BFG KDW2's planned)

EDIT: Actually, I guess I could just throw my old rims back on whenever I take it to the track. What kind of 17" tires would you recommend for those?

MT drag radials with the stock rims. With the new rims just get regular street tires. However, if I was you Id sell the stock rims and buy some 15x8 Draglites or Prostars and mount slicks or ET streets on them. I recommend getting the rear end built though either way.

Definitely keep your 17's if you are getting 18's cuz i wish i did. at least until you can buy some Welds. And get the M/T DRs

You are playing russian roulette with your rear end if you put drag radials on that stock rear end. Its very strong in day to day driving and even take take massive hits from a roll. But when you give that hard shock from launching on drag radials, they twist and snap. It happens on STOCK GTs with drag radials, and 400hp is even more of a hit to your drivetrain.

If you go with drag radials, and you have a stock rear end, just don't drop it at 5K rpms. My rear end is stock, 9 years old, and with MT's i've dropped it at 3K rpms and nothing, but i wouldn't go over 3500 rpms in stock form. also MT's are the best drag radials, after seeing someone have BFGs and not hooking good and then see them on MT's and hooking like mad...yeah MT's all the way

Yeah?? You can break your axles in stock form with drag radials and definitely with slicks. It's not to much about the power you put down, it's the way the tires can instantly stick or wheel hopping and then it sticks.

if you are going with 18s i would get 245/40/18s because i think that is the size you need to go with so you dont have to reprogram or retune. but i wouldnt recommend draging on them tho
