I have an 03 automatic. Last summer i ran it several times with only magnaflow mufflers, and a k+n filter added to the car, and it ran a 14.6 quarter mile, with 2.2 60ft times. Over the winter i added a 3:73 gear, accufab 70mm throttle body and plenum, underdrive pulley's, an off road x-pipe, subframe connectors, a sct custum tune. It dynoed 258 rwhp. Well i finally got to the track and i ran twice, it ran a 14.3 both times with 2.2 60ft times. The weather was cool and humid. A few week's later i ran on a dry cool, night. well i ran 1 pass at 14.3, and 1 at 14.5 and 4 passes at 14.6. With a 60ft of 2.2. I wasn't bogging down or spinning off the line it was lauching fine. My friend ran it twice and ran a 14.6 both times with a 2.2 60ft time. I'm pissed, I added that stuff and didin't really pick up anything at all the majority of the run's. Any idea's on what's wrong?

looks like you were running lower times but did you keep running it back to back? after so many runs you have to let it cool off for a while cause when you motor starts getting hotter after so many runs, the HP declines so does your times. i usally will run my car and let it cool for 10-15 mintues, after the 3rd run i'll let it cool for a lot longer.

Traction,traction,traction... you should try a set of drag radials and see if it helps. Drag racings real key is getting it to hook up. Doesn't matter if you've got 800HP if you can't hook. I'm guessing your losing traction even if you can't see/feel it. I modded my car similiar to yours along the way and that was my problem. So,I added upper & lowers, drag shocks/struts and drag radials and brought my 60 down to 2 flat. I'm sure you know this but make sure your traction control & overdrive are off. If you do some of the traction upgrades you should be in the 13.7 range. Don't let your E.T. bother you hell we've all been through the same problems. You MOD your a$$ off and then see lil or no results.:wallbash: Then one day it all comes together and you smile from ear to ear.
Heres some things to think about no two days are the same,temp/bp,wind,clouds,sun,lane choice, track prep, tire pressure, fuel, etc. all figure into our magic #'s. I keep a log of all my runs so I can compare them you might find that helpfull when tuning for bracket racing. Good Luck! |

he told us what his problem was.... 2.2 second 60' times. need to work on your launches. A little tire spin is ok if you're moving forward. Also try staging a little shallow. that'll help you build that little extra bit of inertia before you break the beam that starts the clock. It'll shorten your 60' as measured a little.
Also, make sure you've pulled the spare tire out of the trunk and don't be racing with a full tank. |

As Weels1 said, try some drag radials if you're spinning. Also make sure traction control and over drive are OFF. Also, launch off idle. Take some weight out of the car and remove the front sway bar for better weight transfer. Im not sure if you're car is lowered or not, but lowering springs will also hurt 60 ft. times. What are your shift points set at?

I wont say anything untill we can see what the miles per hour was for the first runs when it was mostly stock and the MPH on the runs with all the mods on it.

Trap speed's were about the same. I alway's turn the traction control and overdrive off. I'm in memphis, tn not sure of the elevation. Since the sct tune it shift's right before it redline's. And i alway's let the car cool down about 20 minutes when i get there, and 20 minutes's between each run, with the hood up.
