Porting and match stock 2v heads worth it?

Is the port job worth it, can i really see 30+ hp from this mod and multi angle valve job? I saw the stage 2's that say you can get 40+ but they are 1500 plus install as where modding the stockers is considerably cheaper - and still support high horse power levels for later down the road.

My patriot stage 2's are regular mustang PI heads that are ported to a certain flow and has new valves, locks, springs,5 angle valve job, etc. I paid around 1300 bucks for them, but i sold my old heads on ebay for 200 bucks, so really i got the heads for 1100 bucks. I talked to 3 other places about porting my heads on my car, which were PI heads. And they wanted 1000 bucks or more to make them flow the same as the stage 2 heads, plus another 75 bucks both ways to ship them, but that didn't include SS valves, new locks, new .600"s springs, 5 angle vavle job, etc. That would have been several hundreds more. If you can't port them yourself, or have a friend that can do it for cheaper, but flow real well, then i would just buy them.
My motor was 260HP like the 4.6, just more TQ. And with my mods, i might have been pushing around 245-250 to the wheels but with the Stage 2 heads, i'm at 289.77 HP to the wheels, they are definitely worth 40+ HP to the wheels.

Install, they are not hard to install, just time consuming, or if you have someone that can do it cheap.

But remember, just because they flow well doesnt mean they will make good power.

and this is directed to.......??? about the stage 2 heads??? i have proof, having someone port them, that's on them to check the flow

have them professionally ported or buy some patriot or VT heads. Head porting requires a thorough understanding of airflow characteristics which is totally non-intuitive. I know how, and have proven designs of my own for upper intake plenums, intake runner porting, chamber reshaping etc... and I'm still having mine done by a genuine professional so I know it's right the first time and I'll have flow bench numbers to make me feel better.

If they flow better than stock you'll make more power period. Maybe not much but you'll make more. Better cams, intake and exhaust will really take advantage of the increased flow and enable you to realize the 30+hp claims that you're likely to see.

Larger displacement motors like 5.4L's really get a nice boost even with stock cams. I'd bet that Saleen's power would have come out at 240-250rwhp without the Stage 2 heads. That he's touching 290rwhp says a lot about the potential gains. As soon as he tosses some cams on I think we'll see well in excess of 310rwhp and probably a little more tq if he doesn't go too hog wild on the grind.

It wasnt directed to anyone. Just a general comment for people searching for heads. Also, I dont recommend porting the heads yourself. As r3dn3ck said.
