I need some help..

I just bought a 2003 mustang GT. I have already ordered a magnaflow magnapack exhaust and a steeda cold air intake. About how much hp to the wheels am I looking to gain from those two things? I want to be runnin' somewhere around 300- 315 hp and have about $1500 more to spend. I was also thinking about long tube headers, steeda underdrive pulleys, either 3.73 or 4.10 gears, and maybe a tuner. Any suggestions on where I should go from here? Thanks.

With those two mods, you should see a total gain anywhere from 15-35hp max. If you want to get big gains quick, your best bet is to get some headers or cams, if not both, and a good tune. Are you putting on an o/r x or h pipe? But like you mentioned long tubes, that will definatly upgrade your exhaust system as a whole. But if youre looking for small gains at a time (forget the cams and headers), then your next mod should def be some gears. With 1500 left, you should be able to put together a nice start.

I know this probally sounds stupid..but what is the difference between an o/r x or h pipe? Do I need it for my catback exhaust or no? What will it do if i got them? lastly.. what gear should I go with. I have numerous opinions from everyone. It seems its 50-50.. 3.73 and 4.10. Thanks for the help!

The X or H will make it sound better and flow ALOT better with a bigger HP gain than the CB.

4:10's own the 3:73's!!

Man i hate to burst your bubble, but you're not going to get over 300 rwhp with just bolt ons. You're gonna have to get into the motor with cams, ported heads...all kinds of stuff. Or you could go the quick route and do N2O if all you care about is peak power.

Since when does a CAI and catback get you 15-35rwhp!?!?!

People dont realize how much launching at 5k+ will benefit 1/4 mile times. Get your rear built, buy some rims with slicks, get a tuner and tune with a two step. With very little mods and some weight reduction youll be running some damn good times.

Now if you dont care about 1/4 mile times and just want to be a dyno queen then get full exhaust with LT's, all of the bolt ons, new heads/ cams, and new intake. You wont make over 330rwhp NA with everything possible.

stage 2 ported heads...30-40HP to the wheels just from that.
But you will need the bolt ons, cams, heads, exhaust to be pushing that power to the wheels N/A.

You should of just bought a used supercharger then you would of been at 350 hp. As fas as the gears, if you think you are going the supercharger route get the 3:73's, no power adder, get the 4;10's. Turbo, stay with the stock 3:27's.

so whats the difference in power gains bewteen the patriot stage 2 and porting and polishing the stock heads - with the multi-angle valve job?

Patriot stage 2 heads are ported and polished PI heads. They grind and smooth them out and get it to flow a certain number on the flowbench. And if you had someone port and polish your heads, they will tell you what stages they have or whatever else they can do and tell you what stages flow what. but Patriot stage 3 heads are for an all out racer, to extreme for the streets.

I went with the partriot stage 2 heads because it was almost 1400 bucks, and that's heads, stage 2 porting, titanium retainers, SS valves with 5 angle valve job, .600" lift springs. I called some other places and they wanted 1000 bucks or more for me to send my heads just for a port/polish and 5 angle valve job, the other parts would have been extra.

Then sell your old heads and that takes money off the heads you just bought.
so basically i bought my P stage 2 heads for 1200 bucks.

also with my mods, i would have been putting down around 245-250 HP to the wheels, but with the heads i'm throwing down 289.77 Hp to the wheels.

since ever...

A CAI and a catback has ALWAYS gotten you up to 35 RWHP? I highly doubt that. Let's do some math real quick. Stock 99+ GT 5 speed is ~225 RWHP. My fully bolt on and 93 octane tuned 04 GT made 263 before the blower went on. That was 70mm throttle body, C&L plenum, the tune, JLT CAI, Mac catted h pipe and Mac catback. Using your math, the rest of my mods only netted me anywhere from 3-23 rwhp. Even though I picked up damn near 20 with the tune alone.

You sir are out of your mind.
