Exshaust Setups For an 01 cobra.
 

Out of all the cat-backs MT offers which one would be the most efficient for my cobra. Money is not an issue. By exshaust I also might consider doing headers....but am not sure.

Discuss.

Also I need to know what kind of combos would be good, I have heard nothing but good things about x-pipes and stuff like that.

You can choose just about any combo. My farvorite is Magnaflow X-pipe with Mac Catback. My friend had that setup and when he'd pass me @ 7k the sound of that was unbeleivable!!

I'm going to changing to that combo.

for power the only way to go is long tube headers with an off-road mid pipe (X or H pipe doesnt matter there is little power differnce between them only the sound is different) and any catback you like. This will make the most power.

If you want old school sound, you want an H-pipe and a Mac catback.
If you want the high pich euro sound you want an X-pipe with a straight threw muffler. such as magnaflow etc..

the highest quality sound for cobra's to me is the bassani X pipe or Mac Pro-Chamber and bassani cat back with a good set of long tubes.

You don't get any of that hollow popping sound from such a system. If you bother with headers, don't bother with anything but longtubes or you're wasting your money. Shorties don't even affect sound that much so they're really a waste until you put a power adder in the mix.

I use Borla ProXS mufflers with pro-dumps and a Bassani catted X pipe. It's loud but not too loud (inside noise is not bad at all unlike flowmasters that shook my nuts at 1800rpm), has a nice deep note and doesn't make me too much of an attention getter to the local law enforcement.

Go to some mustang meets and see what others have that you like. When you find the perfect combo, get one like it.

My only problem is I live in california...where long tubes are illegal.

ditto... Longtubes are a nice power mod and a great sound but they're not required to get good sound. You can go with a catted H or X pipe and a bassani cat back and it'll sound killer.

Make sure you keep your stock H pipe so you can slap it on when smog time comes around.

Since you're here... check out the wildhorsesclub.com site. I'm a member of the club... great bunch of folks and they have a lot of meets where you can go and listen to various exhausts to find out what you like. No dues, no BS, just a good set of helpful peeps with everything from newbs in 05 v6's to hard core racers with obscenely modified fox bodies.

Also will it be too loud for when the top is down? Cuz I don't really feel like yelling @ people when im in my car.

Install it yourself. It's stupid easy.. 8 bolts total and none of them are really that hard to get to if you have some extensions. Air makes the job a little easier but it's pretty easy anyway.

I'd call up MT and check with them, other than that there are a few shops in your area but the SoCal guys on wildhorses are the only ones I'd want to get that info from. They really keep tabs on those things.

I usually complete the full install in under an hour using basic hand tools but if you must pay for it to get done, it's usually a hundred bucks or whatever they're charging for an hour of labor at your local hot rod shop.
