Stock pipes are 2 1/4 buddy! :angel3:

you can run alot of different mufflers besides a flowmaster. everyone makes 2 1/4" piped mufflers. i would recomend the dynomax ultraflwos they are great mufflers.

well, the kind of muffler makes no difference to me i just want to maximize performance. you still recommend dynmax?

spike_africa 03-11-2005 02:34 PM

the differenc ein a chammbered and non chammbered muffler for performance wont matter till you need to push alot of air threw the muffler then a straight threw mufflers like the dynomax or magnaflow etc.. would be my choice. i just thought you should know they make more then flowmasters mufflers.

I would recomend the dynomax ultraflows they sopund nice and flow well ultra good lol.

Flowmasters are great man. As far as the pipe size goes, 2 1/4. i would up to 2.5 though. This is when you will get more HP gains. I can pull up some dynos for ya. many will argue about what is the best muffler. quite frankly they are all about the same, you will not gain HP in your muffler just a differ sound for your stang. If you want the Hp up your pipe size. Have fun man with your decision, my flowmaster super 40 sound great. Be sure to check out ebay for the better deals.

What he said... I would really recomend a cat-back, it isn't much more than weld in's and will give you the opportunity to up your pipes to 2.5's which will give you a little better flow since you already have an O/R H which I am assuming is a 2.5. Most cat backs come with exhaust tips that look identical to stock, except for borla with the short tips.

i was looking at the slp loudmouth but ive heard that it isnt smart to mix slp with an o/r MAC H pipe. dont know why. also, i want the exhaust to look stock because like many on the forum know, my father is very anal about me doing mods to the car. so i was gonna do all the install myself and so on. do the slp tips look stock? if not, can u recommend a brand? thanx

hey man i got the flowmaster american thunder cat back system looks stock low noise when idle/cruising but when you punch it people know your there.
plus it has 2.5 inch pipes which gives ya little more power. but when it comes down to it flowmaster is still the most cost effective brand in my opinion

spike_africa 03-13-2005 03:19 PM

mac is cheaper. that seems more cost effective to me :)

HappySavage 03-14-2005 06:30 PM

wow guess your right

yeppers, no but really, they flow very well also and sound great i dont think you can beat the mac catback, for the price. I belive there was a chart showing a mac vs a few different setups and it flowed better than a 2chamber flow (if i remmeber correctly) and better than a dynomax super turbo i think it was so it was pretty good, not the best but good enough.

Yes Mac is cheaper, Some of their stuff is fine. But I had one of their H pipes before and it fit terrible. Scrapped every speed bump. This one from Mustang tuning sits higher than every other off road pipe ive had, And ive bought at least 6 or 7.

The Off road pipes with the mustang tuning name are made by "PYPES", When i visited mustan tuning last week to pick up and order, i asked about that brand because ive never heard of them before, Or have even seen teh name. They told me they are a small starting company. My off road pipe hugs the body and i can just get my Pointing finger between the body and pipe in some spots. They seem to have a extra bend to get it higher than other brands. That extra bend costs time and bigger companies wouldnt bother.

Ive had flowmasters on all my other stang, I heard a guys exhaust and asked him what it was and he said Magnaflows. I can tell whenever a mustang goes by since everyone has flowmasters

cat backs

I just installed the mac cat back system this morning it sounds great , fit great . It took me an hour and thirty min. by myself on car ramps. the hardest part is getting the stock muffler off of the hangers. those rubber hangers are killers. idle is noticably louder but not drastic. but when you get into it. it sounds awsome.
