Well from what I have heard, you have to pull the motor out to change them and it is it an 6-8 hour job for a mechanic. I actually was thining about changing the heaaders on mine, but I am going to wait and do motor work while the engine is out.

you dont have ot pull the motor. you do have ot take the 2 bolt out for the motor mountes and you can use a lift and raise it form the top or a jack and raise the engine form the bottom to gain the clearence you need to get the long tubes in. also you need ot remove the steering shaft. it is held on with one bolt at the bottom. other than that just some time and wiggiling things around should do it.

What he said. Also, with a little more effort you can drop the K-member, that would give you alot more room to finish the job. I did it with the k-member in place, and in hind site I would have saved time by taking it out. If you leave the k-member in place, you should loosen both engine mounts and remove one at a time, this will cause the engine to lean to one side a little when you jack it up, giving you more room. I spent so much time messing around removing the strut tower brace, CAI, starter, and then jacking the engine up that I'm sure it would have been quicker to just remove the k-member, then the headers would slide right in. Remember to put the dipstick back in place BEFORE you start to bolt the drivers side header in, the dipstick doesn't bend much and is a P.I.T.A. to get in and out. Of course some headers don't require you to remove it, but I know BBK's do. It really isn't to hard to do just a little frustrating, get a bunch of drive extensions, knuckles, and all kinds of odd shaped wrenches for whatever size header bolts you have, (mine were 3/8") Even some of those wratcheting wrenches if you don't mind dropin 60 bucks for them, you'll be glad you did.

Here is the BBK tech page that has the install instructions for all of their header kits, http://www.bbkperformance.com/install/index.shtml

Its really not that hard. With the help of a freind or 2 its a easy job. it just takes osme time. Kinda like shift kits its not ot hard but takes time. Good luck and let us know how you like the long tubes.

I just caught this thread....make sure you have your tuner adjust your 02 sensor delay. When you move the 02 sensors further down in the exhaust stream, it delays the information that the pcm gets from the sensors. Good luck, LT's are a great Mod.

Dropping the K member is the easiest way. While its out, swap it for a tubular one.
