Can't believe that there are some people in here that don't know much about cars. :violent1:

I can't believe that there are people on this board that are so eager to ridicule someone that asks a simple question. You guys suck and have detracted from this forum.

Wheel hop is simply when the tires bounce around due, normally, to failing shocks. The weight of the car will then rest on the springs and bounce around due to spring recoil that is not controlled by the shocks.

The only time I have that trouble is when my wheels are breaking loose in the turns.

lakewood makes some nice lower and upper control arms to get ride of the wheel hoop. summitracing.com and jegs.com both carry them for good prices.

Wheel hop really sucks at the track...I've seen cars break axles for some reason! :cussing: ..

spike_africa 03-07-2005 04:11 PM

with sticky tires that can happen with stock you dont have ot worry about it.

tedinde 03-07-2005 05:08 PM

Wheel hop is just like it sounds, Instead of just spinning or bogging. Your traction wheel spins and hops and and down and keeps doing it due to loss of traction. The first fox mustangs used to do it bad, Remedy was Quad Shocks to keep the pinion angle and the wheels planted. Its worse than spinning or losing all traction.

Better upper and lower control arms will get rid of it and those subframe connectors youve been looking for. if your light on funds and have a welder. Box your own control arms. $10 worth of steel and some welding wire.

I bought some upper and lower Mac control arms for cheap on ebay and it was a very good investment. I paid $150 shipped

Drop me a line if you need any welding done.

madmatt 03-07-2005 06:18 PM

Did the subframes cure any of the wheel hop for you?

spike_africa 03-07-2005 06:37 PM

sub frames wil not cure wheel hop, they will help the car stay straight and thats good though.

WaterDR 03-07-2005 06:57 PM

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't we missing something? Should a car have this problem as he is describing with the type of power that he is putting down? Seems to me that LCA's might just be putting a band-aide on the problem.

I wasnt having any wheel hop problems. I doubt subs will help cure wheel hop. Maybe on launch a bit. The problem with wheel hop is it just gets worse and worse till your all over the place.

Also Stanger00, Is it only when your in corners??I should've asked this first. Did you have any friction disks added to your traction loc, or anything extra done on your gear swap?? Wheel hop with a locker rear, or Modified traction loc is common.

For anyone that wants to know what wheel hop is like. Have you ever driven a 4x4 engaged in the winter then hit a dry spot on a corner. Maybe thats all it is with your stang, Your rear is locking up too good an not letting the rear wheels slip like they should?? When the gears were changed, did the installer add the right amount of ford friction modifier to the gear oil??
