Kenne Bell

Any 99'-04 guys running a Kenne Bell?? That is my next biggest upgrade, after my suspension is complete. I've read nothing but good things about the Bell...any negatives?

lol only drawbacks I hear of are cost and the fact that tires wont keep tread on them very long :D

Ozone89 09-13-2004 07:03 PM

The cost is kind of steep...but Im definately gonna buy it. Ya know, I read all over the Q/A's on KenneBell's site and...they say nothing about what cams would go with there Chargers.

Well, in my opinion, it all depends on what your plans are with the car. If you want an all out racer, go with some cams, but to me, 400 rwhp and 400 lb/ft it more than enough for the street. Youd have to look around for more cam ideas but I dont know if there is an optimal camshaft for a blower that makes 400+ lb/ft of torque at 2000 rpm.

*UPDATE*
I wrote Kenne Bell and e-mail a day ago, and ask them if I could put a different cam, with there Twin Screw Supercharger. Kenne Bell wrote me back and said...."You CANT change the stock cams...it presents a driveability issue"

Ok now...I went to my Mechanic...who needs no introductions what-so-ever to the racing game, or high performance game. He told me,(before I got my answer back from Kenne Bell) that it most certainly can be done, and he stated he has done quite a few of them to the 4.6.
Now, why would Kenne Bell say something like that? If it couldnt be done, my mechanic would of told me right up front. Im totally clueless now, on who to believe.

I would think that cams and a KB would create a tune challenge, but nothing that could not be resolved. KB is probably right in their statement, but they should have said "You have to get it tuned" in order to make it work.

madmatt 09-18-2004 09:18 AM

Yes, anything can be done. Kenne Bell is probably saying that about their base tune that you get with the kit. Cams on a KB motor is probably a huge increase in power. You can do anything as long as it is tuned correctly.

I don't have one, yet. I am VERY interested in getting one. And if anyone happens to have one that is reading this, please share your experience; that is, install/sound/performance/yadda,yadda,yadda.
