Cough of smoke
I took my car to the track saturday for the first time! Although something happened that concerned me. I was racing a older monte carlo (which i barely beat due to excessive spinning) at the end of the 1/4 my car let out a caugh of smoke, i think i may of left it in 4 gear and let and coasted for a second or two at rpms around 5-6 thousand. Is something to be concerned about? The first race it didnt smoke, and it hasnt since.

Could have just been a little oil from your PCV getting up into the intake.
thats nothing to be concerned about right?
If that is all it is, then NO.
if it just blew a bit of smoke for a moment and stopped its fine, if it kepted doing ti there could be a problem.
looks like we have concensus. I wouldn't worry much but check your oil and coolant levels and appearance regularly for the next couple days. Might have floated a valve for a second and let a bit too much air/fuel mix get sucked out the exhaust or (more logically) the PCV oil-suck seems more logical.
Does it idle the same and otherwise act the same as before? |
The car has acted fine every since. I will keep an eye on the oil and water though.
