Unhappy Ran the Stang Today at the Track

Hello everyone!! Just got back from the track...Here are my best numbers for today....Bone Stock (No Spray as of Yet)

Air Temp: 43 degress
Track Temp: 58 degress
Triple Tree Light

Reaction Time: .6268
60ft: 2.0
330ft: 5.9
1/8 mile: 9.1 @ 77.85mph
1/4 mile: 14.1 @ 97.09mph

I have a DVD of all of my races, when I post it to Streetfire i'll give you the link..

My Wins:
89 Mustang GT: Won by 5.06 Seconds (He messed up at the line)
04 SRT-4: Won by .5805 Seconds (He was running me down at the end)
02 Vert Mustang GT: Won by .2172 Seconds (Good Race)

My Loses:
06 MUSTANG GT: Lost by 1.1 Seconds
02 CAMERO (Pushing about 370 rwhp) Lost by 1.4 Seconds
03 TA (Ram Air) (Spraying 150 Shot) Lost by 2.5 Seconds
05 AUDI TTI Lost by .4167 Seconds (Ran me Down)

This car seems to run out of gas at about 70-80mph......Is that the best time to Spray her???? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Nice run for stock, and some 4.10's will take care of that running out of gas problem.

My Stang just felt like it was through after about 70, didn't really want to pull hard anymore. I have an auto so here is how I do it:

At Light I hold the brake and I rev her up to about 1900-2000 rpm, When the light goes I romp on her. I dropped my air pressure to 21lbs in the rear and got awesome traction. I leave in First, then when i get to 6000rpm I shift into 2nd, when I get to 6,000 rpm again I shift into Drive. After I shift into drive is when It feels like it dies on me!!!!!! I don't drag with OD on so I don't know what the problem is. The funny thing is when I just drive her around town and hit the gas at 80 she really pulls hard......I have no idea. :bash:

Ive never had any luck with manushifting my auto, i had the same happen, it gets into drive and seems confused for a second, i lost to a stock prelude doing that.

Have you tried just throwing it in drive and hauling ass? The stock auto tranny does a good job of shifting right around 5800rpm, not quite 6k, then again, when it shifts up to third it knows what the hell it is doing.......

regardless, bone stock 14.1 is damn good.

As for spraying, put a RPM window switch, turn it on, and let it fly. you can spray damn near the whole run.

Get some 4:10's and some suspension work, you should be able to pull high 12's

You shouldn't, I guarantee that you'll go faster if you just put it in D, turn OD off and hit it.

dude..I dont see why you have a frown face on your topic because 14.1 is what the pro's ran it at motortrend and road n track. I ran with intake and exhaust and made a paltry 14.9. it was sick, I couldnt break the 14.9. So to run that BONE STOCK...you're either and awesome driver..or your car is modded and u just dont know it.

this is true. you are not faster than the computer. you must be pretty good at timing this because everytime i tried that method the car will hit the limiter. i bet your car kicks real hard on the 2-3 shift then feels like it doesnt want to pull any harder? thats normal my car felt the same until i got the 373's and picked up 4 miles per hour in the quarter but i lost a lot of ET at launch. my best N/A run was a 13.50 on gatorback tires.

awesome times for a bone stock auto.

14.1 is a great time for a stock auto! be happy man.

Your 60 foot is great too, but you are running out of a steam a bit judging by your trap time.

Here is what you need to do:

4.10's and an SCT tune. You will be deep into the 13's. The SCT tune will make you car shift a lot better...faster, firmer, and at higher rpms.

Then, you will benefit greatly from a new converter with a stall around 2500.
If you want to spray, fine. Hell, I have a great used nitrous system that I am selling. If you do spray, you spray right out of the hole. That is where you pick-up the most time.

Those are nice #s for stock auto car. i seemed to have had the same problem though and i have a5 speed, top of the 3rd gear car seems to run out of steam N/A :wallbash: Mustangs with some gears come out the hole hard but never feel very strong at the top until you start modding

You should let the car shift itself, also you shifted wrong (Manually).
You should start in 1st and then shift to 2nd then drop it down to 1st again(that is your second gear) Then shift to second (for your 3rd). If your gonna shift manually you must do it this way to get the most outta her.

Stay at WOT the whole time
Start in 1st then shift to 2nd, when the car shifts, drop it back down to 1st(that is second gear) then shift up again for third. Believe me it works, I used to do it for fun cause you get wheels through all the gears!

Sounds like a real nice time to me.....also sounds like an '06 GT rana 13 flat against ya.....he musta been heavily modded or spraying to get that from the runs I've seen....no shame in any of your losses and your wins sound like they were definitely worth mentioning!!! NICE JOB!!!!

Thanks for all the comments guys!! I have the slip in front of me if you would like me to post it!!! I drag my bike alot so I'm pretty good when it comes to the basics of drag racing. I thought the 2.0 was pretty good also I was running 2.2, 2.1 most of the time!!! My worst 60ft time was a 2.3 on the day. How would I know what Rear I have without taking it apart???? Oh yeah by the way I talked to the 06 Stang and he was running a KB supercharger!! I forgot to mention I lost to a 02 Mustang GT running a 1.7 KB!!! He was hitting Low 12's and that was on Street Tires!!!! But what is funny is that I beat him off the line big time...I am going to Spray her. What is the most our engines can take??? I was thinking a 150 shot!!!!!!! Maybe I won't blow her up, maybe I will....

with your stock fuel pump it will go lean pretty quick. I wouldnt go over 125shot

No one sprays over a 125 on that stock pump even at 125 its really lean.

14.1 is nice I had 14.2 on mine stock. But don't manumatic it just take off in drive with OD off. If you want more power get a tune. With some bolt on and a tune you could probably get into the 13's no problem.

Default standardized tests

ok misconception - car and driver - all of them use a standardized test - meaning they all get dumped at the same rpm - therefore many of the cars are capabl of faster times - with a little of "abuse" - including a higher dump and speedshifting - so anyway everyone should be able to run close to a 14.0 - give or take

Because when you get to a certain RPM your Stang will shift into overdrive bringing down your RPM range and pulling you out of the powerband. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Thanks
