03gtmustang 10-20-2007 08:32 PM

Of course.

In all seriousness, it would be worth it to ship it up here to be detailed by D&D.

I do that for $130... $150 for large trucks...

03gtmustang 11-15-2007 09:21 AM

You get what you pay for. ;)

I do good work... prices are different all over the country... I was told that out in MI, an average detail goes for 200 bucks... Around here, average is 150.

I'm actually a mobile detailer. We have a truck with portable water and the whole 9 yards...

We did work for Lexus a few months ago. Did work on the entire 08 line up and also the new LSF... which is not on dealer lots yet...

03gtmustang 11-15-2007 11:13 AM

I didnt mean to direct that AT YOU, sorry if it seemed that way. And by no means was I talking down about your work, Ive never seen it. I just meant as a general statement, that when it comes to stuff like this you get what you pay for. Mobile detailers prices are also A LOT different then fixed detailers prices.

Actually, I am cheaper then fixed detailers... My work is generally better then most of the BEST detailers in the area.

I was trained by a pro thats been doing this stuff for 40+ years. And I've been doing it a good 2.

There are detailers around here that charge as little as 80-100 bucks... They do crap work.

We may be doing work for Ray Catena and David Micheal. If you don't know who they are, just google the name with NJ in the search field... lol

03gtmustang 11-15-2007 11:37 AM

Yep, from what Ive seen mobile detailers prices seem to be a bit cheaper.

How has your experience been doing work for dealerships? Have you heard of Phil Yiu @ Detailers Domain or Kevin Farrell? Both are detailers in NJ.

Nope... I don't know any other detailers personally.

But my experience with detailers so far as been just like any other private detail.

I go out, do the work, get paid, leave. I work at my own pace, I do my own thing. Do a good job, leave the happy customer with a fuller pocket.

When we did the work on the lexus line up. Same thing.

If we land the job with David or Ray, we will be in house detailers. So he will provide us with a garage and what not. SO our prices will be lower (80/car), and we will be doing alot more cars per day. But this is how I look at it... This is my business, I work however I want, I have no boss, I do a good job... and that ain't gonna change...

Heres some pics of the lexus job... The ISF got DIRTY! Basicly, the story goes like this. Lexus was doing some kind of car show. They would travel from state to state and show off the new line up of cars. They would take the ISF and fly around the parking lot doing dough nutts after people had been touching the thing with their dirty paws.

Many of the cars didnt need much detailing, mostly just needed a wash and quick detail...

Note, I made that website a few months back... since then we have become fully mobilized...

Thanks... hoping for the best... lol... Business is slow now... Right now I'm averaging 4-6 cars a week. And its gettin cold.

The business took off. I was surprised. The only advertising we do is Craigslist and flyers with little pull off tabs all over town in businesses.

You would be amazed at how many customers we get that way. Person walks into a bagel shop, says, "cool, a fuckin bagel" and then they see our flyer and say, "cool, fucking detailing." I found that if people have no choice but to see it, there is more chance to spark their interest in our company. Where as, on CL or the yellowpages, they actually have to look for a detailer and then choose which to use.

Its sounds stupid. But thats how I have gotten 40% of my jobs. 20% from CL, and another 40% from referrals. I've been kinda lazy as of late, if I went out and hung out more I'm sure we could get up to 2 jobs a day. Even in the winter.

Turd Ferguson 11-15-2007 12:23 PM

And I've noticed that where you place the flyers makes a huge difference as well...

Your average blue collar guy will not have you detail his car. Your average car enthusiast will not either. I sure as hell won't let no one touch my car.

Find rich people.

If you can find a rich Italian person. And you do good work. He will refer his ENTIRE FAMILY TO YOU! lol... I love working for rich guidos, they tip big and give us alot of work.

03gtmustang 11-15-2007 01:17 PM

Yeah, its all about marketing. I think word of mouth is probably one of the best ways to get customers.

Yeah... it is...

Round here, we are the only mobile detailing business. So we got an advantage. People talk. Thats how how I met David Micheal and Ray Catena. Did work on some wop's srt8 charger. Did a damn fine job. Did work on his entire family's vehicles. Was introduced Dave and Ray.

Bump for Dan. He's a stand up guy, and is working on a few little accident nicks on my front driver's side fender. I'll post up some pictures (before and after) when I get it back later tonight!!!

03gtmustang 12-14-2007 09:32 AM

Thanks man. I got about 90% of that stuff off the leather. The touch ups are coming out great. They needed a total of 3 applications to fill the chips, plus the one you did, so 4 all together. Applied the last one at 2:30am.
