MGW shifter and Grill delete installed..

well today i finnaly installed my MGW shifter and my grill delete the shifter is sick but i noticed its alot rougher then the stock shifter to shift is that normal for a aftermarket shifter? the throw is alot better but just moving the shifter in general seems rougher then when the stock shifter was in is that normal and will that change overtime?

What do you mean its "rougher" ?
Aftermarket shifters are going to lock into gear with zero to very minimal play. Its going to be a tad more noisey with noticable trans noise.

Stan 02-19-2006 02:34 PM

i mean the stock shifter felt like it went smoother from gear to gear but obviously without the throw..

RyanGT04 02-19-2006 05:43 PM

Do you mean that it feels kinda stiff? If so, i put my MGW in about a month ago and it was kinda stiff for about a week or two, now it slides into gear with the nudge of a finger.

Stan 02-19-2006 06:09 PM

ya i meen its stiff that will go away and did you use the shift stops?

Ive only had it in a little over a month, no probs. Mid 01s -2004 the 3650 has built in stops thats the only reason i didnt put them on.

Stan 02-19-2006 06:35 PM

hmm, i still have the stops in i have a 02 with 3650 and my dad wanted me to keep the stops in, there not touching anything just have them in snugged down just incase so it should be fine..

Ditto on my Tri-Ax, 2 weeks and it was like butta....

macs03GT 02-20-2006 01:00 AM

my tri-ax stayed notchy. I loved it though.

madmatt 02-20-2006 04:54 AM

Yea, my triax is still notchy. I hate it. I miss third with it. Thats ridiculous. Im getting an MGW.

floppy 02-20-2006 05:40 AM

haha, upr is the worst when it comes to notchy. shifting from first to second was like ... clunk...clunk... second to third was like clunk............................................. .................clunk... it's not even a clicking noise like it should be, its definitely a clunk. all i can say is i love mgw. and yes it goes away after a while with mgw.
