Magnaflow Magnapacks

Couple things.

How easy are they to install yourself? For only $15/hour, I can use a garage on Andrews Airforce Base. That includes all the tools and their lift. Would it be easy for me to install? I'm not that mechanically inclined, but my father is, I have to use him to get on base now anyway. How long did it take those of you that installed them to install them? I'd rather spend $15/hour and try it myself rather than pay someone else like $200 to do it.

The other thing is, does anybody have the magnapacks and live in northern virginia? Are the cops assholes and pull you over for having too loud of an exhaust? If they're cop magnets, I'm not going to get the magnapacks.

I would try the install yourself. You have a lift and tools -- you're more than set. Many of us don't have access to the lift. It will go much faster and easier if you just sawzall your old catback off at the rear of the mufflers.

i'd like to keep my old exhaust in tact, so in case i do get pulled over for it and cops are just attracted to it, i can throw my old one back on. hopefully i won't be messing with it for more than 2 hours.

did you install it before by yourself?

I think you will need to drop the rear axle in order to pull out your original catback without cutting it. This will be a bit more hassle. The magnapack will go in much easier since it is in multiple pieces.

i could always rig the older stuff to re-use it if i cut it out though, right? just in case. i highly doubt i'll be putting it back in. i don't always floor my car, especially at late hours, so i shouldn't be attracting too much attention.

Don't worry about it if you're keeping the stock midpipe. Magnapacks are only loud when you want em to be.

Yes, make a clean cut when you do cut it. That way you can always weld it back together.
